Melo better than Rose?

:umad:

Kobe is only slightly better than Rose right now at best. I'll agree with you on the others (LeBron, but not by a wide margin, Wade, Dwight, Durantula). Rose is def Top Ten, though.

Melo is the most versatile scorer in the league. I would have no problem saying Melo is better than Rose. There may be an argument there, but nobody can score like Melo can, so I have no problem sticking with that.

And I would agree that Rose is top 10.

Durant is a more versatile scorer and tougher matchup than Carmelo. Also, Melo plays little to no D while Rose has worked on that end the last two years. Also, Rose is either the best at his position or a close second best to CP3. You can't really say that about Mr. La La.

In my book Rose is top 5. I don´t think Howard and Melo are better than him.

Rose is obviously in my top five because I'm a fucking homer. I don't think he'll win it though.

ESPN knows absolutely nothing. Who they choose to write and analyze has nothing to do with talent. It's all about who you know and most of the analysts are cocky as **** and never even right.

No way is Durant a more versatile scorer, his body type won't allow him to be. He is improving but his frame doesn't allow him to be as effective in the post as Melo can be. Durant is a better shooter and scorer, but he is not as versatile. And positions have absolutely nothing to do with it...if that is the case...Howard is the NBA's best player.

I don't think Rose is yet top 5. He definitely ain't top 3.
I disagree. He is definitely Top 5. Who else is there right now? With Friday's performance, he put himself right in the early discussion.

Lebron is the best by quite a margin, then Wade, Howard, Durant, Kobe, Melo. They can all make an argument.
Being that it's early in the season. Those guys all have a case. Gladly the MVP isn't based on who is best and of course, you thinking lebron is the best 'by quite a margin' is your opinion. I don't agree with it, but whatever. I'm not putting Kobe in the discussion. I would put Rose in his spot.

And I don't make a decision on who should be MVP until I watch what happens. Over the course of the season, my opinion will change. However, I don't think Rose will repeat.

I don't think he will either, but if he maintains what he did against the Clippers, I think he will. It wasn't a fluke that he won it last year.

I feel there is a tendency to downplay just how good Rose is, for the sake of not sounding like a homer. Rose is that good and is just as good as Melo, Wade, lebron, Kobe, Howard, etc.

Saying he is somehow less than those guys is crazy to me.

Saying Rose is somehow less of a player than Lebron is crazy? Lol...

That is my opinion and I stick to it. Rose is a great player, he isn't the best player in the league.

Saying Rose is not the best is no more downplaying homerism than saying he is as good as Lebron James is being obscenely delusional.

durant?

Over the past 3 seasons, he has shot better than Melo at every spot on the floor, even going to the rim [when you averages out the percentages over the last 3 seasons.]

They are probably 2 of the top 3-4 scorers in the league, but it's not like Melo is on another level. Durant has been better over the past couple of seasons

I already pointed out that Durant was a better shooter/scorer. Doesn't mean he is as versatile a scorer as Melo is.

Durant is the best scorer in the league. He is getting bigger and has been better at posting up each year. He's a great scorer.

Why do you just talk about Durant and Melo being versatile scorers?

Nobody in the league can beat you in more different ways than Kobe can!

But that's slowly going away. Kobe four or five years ago would have beaten the Bulls on that final shot.

I'd probably go with something like

1. Durant
2. Dwight
3. Rose
4. LeBron
5. Melo

I think it's between Durant, Dwight and Rose though, barring some big injury. Should be Durant's year if OKC takes the West. If the Bulls take the East again there's a strong chance Rose could go back to back too. These next 60 games are going to be crazy.

How can you even make the case for any player whose team will finish with a worse record than Chicago? To me, the top 3 in some order is Durant, LeBron, Rose. And it should stay that way for the next few seasons, because outside of howard and wade perhaps, those guys are in a class of their own in terms of talent and team success. And Wade won't win because he has LeBron.
