It would be pretty interesting if he winds up in LA. I think they would bring back the crown.

I think L.A. would be better off going after Chris Paul than Dwight Howard.

Derek Fisher and Steve Blake are becoming big liabilities on the defensive end are Fisher's offensive skills are diminishing fast.

They probably give up Bynum+Odom in order to get Howard. Then their line-up is:

Dwight Howard
Pau Gasol
Metta Peace, Matt Barnes
Kobe Bryant, Shannon Brown (if he stays)
Derek Fisher, Steve Blake

They then lose a bunch of size and quality depth in their front-court and still suck terribly at the SF and PG positions.

And Mike Brown is not a very good coach as it is... the Lakers championship window is closing.

A lot of good posts on here...and one dude whining because he's an idiot. That said I might shock some with this...but if I could choose between J.R. Smith and Ben Gordon at AN AFFORDABLE PRICE...I might just take Gordon...especially if you get Howard. Now again, you would have to get a ball handler to back up Rose. But I would rather have Gordon on the floor in the fourth quarter than Smith, though I think Smith is a better player all around. Let's remember, Howard is a walking top 10 defense by himself. Its not like he had all world defenders around him in Orlando a lot of the time.

The problem with Gordon before was he didn't really know how to let Rose be dominant. Now? Rose is an MVP-caliber superstar, I would think Gordon would understand where he is in the pecking order. You have Rose and Howard with Gordon and I think that would be a good combination.

Id be more than happy with either Gordon or Smith.....they both would serve us well.

Ben Gordon and J.R. Smith are not even top 100 players in the league. Why do we set our sights so low when we can just as realistically land a player like Caron Butler (if we cleared that kind of cap space)?

You don't have to like it bro..just my opinion that JRSmith could be a plus in providing relief in the Bulls lacking catagories because of his size, talent and versatility as a guy who can do a littl bit of eveerything, and with. Losing our 2 key bech players to the orlando trade, JR Smith can even be the 6th man if necesary....I'm sure he would be glad to be on a contender back in america after stressing to try and learn how to speak chinese..

I think that Hedo Turkoglu would bring some things to the table from an offensive stand-point that Luol Deng doesn't have but he still lacks some things on offense Deng has too.

And Deng is so much better as a defender than Turkoglu that it makes my head spin.

The upgrade from Noah+Asik to Howard would be more than worth it though.

Why not go after them both. Maybe they'll take a pay cut like those fools in souf beach did and make a western conference super team? Ha But in reality I do agree with that the Lakers are an aging team a'la San Antonio. Another question though who would help them best? A dominant big man or a dominant PG?

My dream combination would be:

PG: Derrick Rose
SG: Kirk Hinrich (PG backup)
SF: Luol Deng (PF backup)
PF: Taj Gibson
C: Dwight Howard

6: JJ Redick (SG backup)
7: Keith Bogans (SG backup)
8: Ronnie Brewer (SG/SF backup)
9: Jimmy Butler (SF backup)
10: Kurt Thomas (PF/C backup)
11: Omer Asik (C backup)
12: minimum contract backup.

Players we give up:
Noah, Boozer, Watson, Korver, Milotic.

This would be the best defensive team without a doubt and I´m sure it´s enough to face the Miami Heat.

My question is would this work money wise?

Edit: I just played with the ESPN trade machine and made a trade that worked, but I´m not sure the Magic and Hawks would do it. But it might be a good base to work with.

The Magic are the team that loses out in that deal. The Bulls would shed so much salary that it isn't even funny.

Taj Gibson is going to demand a steep contract soon.

Omer Asik is still a raw talent that will not be in his prime until he gets a chance to get some minutes on a team that has the capability of developing him.

Kyle Korver is a waste of 5M on the annual pay-roll.

Luol Deng is better than Hedo Turkoglu obviously. But that's what it will take to get Dwight Howard.

Joakim Noah is a very good player with tons of potential to grow offensively. But Dwight Howard is undeniably TONS and TONS better and always will be.

C.J. Watson would be another 3M to shed from the pay-roll. The Bulls wouldn't need him.

The first round pick(s) would be sad to give up. But still well-worth it.

The Bulls would be down to under 50M dollars on the yearly pay-roll. Depending on what the cap is, the Bulls could add a player in free agency like Jason Richardson or Caron Butler before Rose gets his contract.

Imagine:

Dwight Howard, Kurt Thomas
Carlos Boozer, Earl Clark (or Brandon Bass)
Hedo Turkoglu, Ronnie Brewer
Jason Richardson, Keith Bogans
Derrick Rose

That team is way better than the one they have now.
That team outside of Howard and Rose, is old and slow and don't have many good defenders.

Offensively they would be okay, but Howard isn't guarding four other positions.

I would go with this because if Smith and Gordon are our only options, then would suck.

If you put Rose and Howard with cap space, then yeah you do it. You just gotta hope they can get another all-star level player to play the 2 or 3.

If we go after Howard there is a couple things that have to happen.

We have to deal away Noah and keep 1 of Asik or Gibson (preferably Taj).

Honestly I don't know if I want Howard at the expense of having to take on Turk or Arenas. We just need a legit SG like Monta Ellis who should be available and we could get without stripping our team.

NBA Trade Machine - ESPN

lol I did a trade for Howard and gave up Korver, Noah, and Watson and it worked. It said that the Bulls gained 13 wins, lol.

Bulls with Howard according to ESPN - 75 and 7

:bowrofl: beautiful!
