ESPN reports Dwight Howard could be going to Nets

Don't give up on Dwight Howard going to the Brooklyn Nets just yet.

And don't give the Miami Heat the 2013 title either.

This is a tweet from ESPN's Chris Broussard:

Sources: The Nets & Magic are discussing a trade that would send Dwight Howard to Brooklyn for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphies, Marshon Brooks and the Nets' first-round picks in 2013, 2015, 2017....move would give Nets Big 3 of D-Will, Dwight & Joe Johnson.

NBA: Top free agents

The Nets, playing in Brooklyn next season, could match up with the Miami Heat Big 3 if everything works out.

That includes keeping point guard Deron Williams and making other free agent moves.

The Nets have been very active in the free agent market. On Monday they seemed to have a deal for Atlanta shooting guard Joe Johnson.

Johnson is owed $89 million over the next four seasons. In exchange for Johnson, the Nets would send the Hawks the expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, DeShawn Stevenson, Johan Petro and Anthony Morrow, as well as next season's lottery-protected pick obtained from Houston.

Yup.

Wonderful.

The Bulls will win a ring when I can do cartwheels on a tight rope over Niagra Falls. :troll:

If this deal goes down and they get Deron Williams as well, their bench is going to be devoid of any kind of depth whatsoever, I mean the Heat showed the league in their first big three year, that they can't do it alone, and I think the Nets, contigent on this deal going down, will only prove that theory of needing a supporting cast, doesn't need to be the best supporting cast, but compitent players.

1. Where have we heard this before?

2. The Heat made it to the frickin Finals in year 1 and were a Lebron choke job away from possibly winning the whole thing.

3. Bulls fans need to let go of this idiotic idea that not aquiring as much top level NBA talent as possible for the top of the roster is somehow a "bad idea" or doesn't work. This grindy bench mob mentality needs to go away.

Agreed to a deal on July 1. Can't become official until July 12. I can't imagine them being able to pull the offer.

PG: Deron Williams
SG: Joe Johnson
SF: Gerald Wallace
PF: ?
C: Dwight Howard

Joe Johnson 21.5M
Wallace 10M
Howard 20+M
Deron 20+M

71.5+M for 4 players. Is the salary cap only for the Bulls? Why the hell all other teams have no problem spending more money? If this thing happens the Nets will win the next 6 championships and they can sign Scalabrine as the starting PF.

Why can't we have a bunch of stars and a bench mob?

Oh wait I remember, because people care to much about money instead of taking a slight pay cut to for a damn good team as opposed to a pretty good team. That's a sad realization :(

This would be huge for the Nets. I think it would immediately make them the clear #2 team in the East. NBA draft picks are worthless, anyways.

You don't think they could challenge the Heat? Of give the Heat the edge to start, but Nets-Heat is going to be a few great games if this gets done

I also think the Knicks are going to be better as well.

The Bulls have quickly become the 4 seed next year based on everything going on right now.

Oh yeah I forgot about them. Shit lol not looking good for the Bulls. And the Bulls are gonna need to stay healthy to get the 4th seed I think. If Dengs wrist gets re injured...oh boy

I don't know about the Knicks. They will probably suck like they did this year. Who will they get to become better? They will lose some players. If the Nets get Howard it will be 1.Nets,2.Heat,3.Indiana,4.Bulls

Indiana will fall off a bit if they lose the great Roy Hibbert.

The Knicks last year were much better after Woodson took over.

The Nets would be an insta-contender if they get Superman. And that wouldn't be a bad thing. I love Deron and if a team can kick the shit out of Miami I gotsta love them. IS BROOKLYN IN DA HOUSE??!

The Knicks last year sucked from day 1 till the end. They barely made the playoffs. And they will lose some players this year. The only way they have a chance to be better next year is signing Nash. But I don't see it.

I don't think the pacers will lose Hibbert.

Actually Smith opted out because he can sign with the Knicks for more by opting out and re-signing with them. Most people think it's a foregone conclusion he ends up back in New York.
