Leftwich was 4-12 before Brady and it was rumored that Brady caused the change in philosophy midway through 2020 after the Bear loss. Could be happenstance but why he isn't yet elevated. Maybe wrongly, maybe not. McDaniels also went 10-5 with Cassel. He proved to be a bad HC. He's now got another chance due to Mac Jones play last year. Personally, I'm glad that's not here.

Not necessarily true

Scheme can certainly improve things but the player is still what he is. Cassel would be a good example.
It's why so many NFL starters were taken early. If it was more about coaching, you'd see more middle/late round starters.
