I know it's college vs pro, and Justin had outstanding college stats, but for a myriad of reasons that did not translate well to the NFL.
Lets hope CW transitions better.

Justin Fields the last three seasons TD to INT ratio
3rd Down: 16-16

Red Zone 25-2

A better eye-opener would compare Caleb's 3 seasons in college to Fields' 3 seasons in college.

Caleb would still look better than Fields but it would be a fairer comparison.

Passing

Caleb 10082 passing yards Fields 5701
Caleb 93 TDs Fields 67
Caleb 14 Int Fields 9
Caleb 66.9 Completion % Fields 68.4
Caleb & Fields 9.2 Yards per attempt
Caleb 10.3 Adjusted passing yards per attempts Fields 10.7
Caleb 169.3 Passing Efficiency Rating Fields 178.8

Rushing

Caleb 966 yards Fields 1133
Caleb 3.3 rushing average Fields 4.4
Caleb 27 rushing TDs Fields 19

Notes:
  1. No sack nor fumble stats found
  2. Caleb amassed his stats in 3 more games than Fields
Caleb had a staggering advantage in the key stats for QBs, TDs and Yards. The rest of the stats showed a very similar stat profile for Caleb and Fields.

There is a monster difference between coverages in college and pro. That said, Williams clearly has a higher ceiling so let's all hope he realizes it.

Pretty sure fields had similar numbers in college in those categories.

Fields Sophomore year he had 51 total TD's and 3 INT's, id venture to bet the stats look pretty damn similar on 3rd downs to caleb.

I expect caleb to outplay what fields has done in the NFL, but comparing college stats to a guys NFL stats is dumb when their college stats would be similar.

Talent sure, as well he had plenty around him during his time starting at OSU including 3 1st rnd(10,11,20) WR's, a 1st rnd LT, 7 total 1st rnd picks and a total of 20 top 3 rounds picks( 12 offensive players). CW had 2, 0,2 and 5 (2 offensive) respectively. Oh, USC has a borderline 3rd rnd WR in Brendan Rice this season as well, so if he gets lucky and we give him that his top 3 round surrounding talent swells to 6.

Fields supporting cast while at OSU:

3 Top 20 1st Rnd WR's

1 1st Rnd LT

7 1st Rnd picks

20 ( 12 on offense) top 3 Rnd picks

Calebs supporting cast at USC
2 1st Rnd WR's

0 1st Rnd LT

2 1st Rnd picks

5 ( 2 on offense) top 3 Rnd picks

Who were the all pro players for the Bears when Fields was there?

Yes, you are correct. Caleb had less around him than Fields in college, but I would still compare apples (college) to apples, not oranges (the pros) even if the apples around the apple were better for one apple than another apple.

No matter what, both your and my example show that Caleb was better than Fields in the more important stats.

But, but, but Fields high school stats were much better than Caleb's college stats so that must mean that Caleb has a better chance of busting than Fields.

Do you understand why people would not like your comparisons?

ESPN actually has a huge amount of stats you can view broken down by quarter, field position, etc.

Long post alert, but links below and snapshots from last 2 years for both Williams and Fields in college for Field Position and then for the down which seemed inline with the OP of this thread and what they were looking at.

The one quirk to the ESPN stats is in the red zone as it looks like Opp 19-Goal and Opp 9-Goal overlap. For example with Williams, if you count up the TDs in field position is adds up to 38 in 2023 when he 'only' threw 30 TDs in 2023. Even better, the field position quirk had him throwing 65 TDs in 2022.

Justin Fields:

And fields played against NFL players on the opposing defenses while caleb played against a buncha scrubadubs
