Whataburger is better than anything on that list followed by:
Burger King
Lota Burger (again, not on the list)
In and Out

That is all chain, fast food burgers tho. There are better burgers to be had.

Voted In & Out of that list would have put Wendy’s second. Not on the list 5 Guys would challenge In & Out for me. The Steak and Shakes around me have gone to shit. Culver’s and Portillo’s, though not on the list, are very solid as well. also depends on how one wants to define “fast food”.

I'll go In N Out. It tastes the freshest and the veggies they put on the burger are also solid. Unfortunately, I don't have In N Out in Iowa so I only "get" to eat it when I travel for work and I don't normally eat fast food when on the companies dime, but there are always special circumstances.

In Iowa, I'll say Hardees (or Carl Jrs) following by Wendys.

I've hated McDonalds for awhile. I always feel like complete shit after eating. Last month around Thanksgiving, I was driving across I-80 (anyone who has ever done this in Iowa knows it is excruciating and very limited options to eat) I decided to stop and grab McDonalds quick so I could be on my way. I'll say, their burgers are of much better quality than I remember them being. They've done some serious work on that menu.

Culvers is overrated AF. The burgs are always smashed to shit and I feel like I'm eating caked on leftover food from the grill from the previous day.

In my defense California does not have Whataburger and Lotaburger. Never heard of them. Do brothers own the franchises?

Lotaburger is a New Mexico thing.

Whataburger is a regional thing.

I don't think there is any familial ties.

Hardee's used to be the best IMO, then they changed everything. I know all of them changed in some tone, but wow, they went from juicy to dry. If you have an old Hardee's that hasn't updated and is on the old franchisee model, you're lucky.

Right now I would say Whataburger, if you're lucky to have one.

Burgers are by some nature, fast food, but that doesn't mean all Burger places are fast food joints. If it takes 15 minutes from the time you enter the door until you get your food on average, it's not really fast food. So a few places obviously don't make the cut that would dominate the list.

Haven’t been to Shake Shack or Whataburger. Hardee’s and especially Burger King in my area are God awful.

Steak N Shake is underrated.

Also if we are talking after bar food in terms of Burger. You forgot Cook Out. Burger, Fries, Shake and two sides for $5.99.

Cook out is not national though I don't think. I only ever had one in Carolina and way out in NW Virginia
