All is good. Forewarning: Not here to hate, just my own conscious decision. Rarely do I ever have a bad burger, they are just easy mode for a tasty meal. But I have switched up my burgers a bit from the all-beef variety to some kind of meat-veggie hybrid just to reduce calories, fats, and protein(I get more than enough in my diet).

I like oatmeal as a ground beef filler, and spinach. I let the oatmeal suck up as much of the flavor from the blood of the meat, and chopped spinach does a great job of holding in the marinate and spices. I probably do about 25% beef, 25% turkey, and 15% oatmeal, 20% spinach, 15% mushrooms. Then season it to whatever the hell I have a taste for. I've fooled some picky ass burger eaters with this basic blend.

I tried using rice, and that's okay, but its a drop in taste. I tried tofu mixed in too, and f-that shit. I don't like tofu. More power to those that do, it's not for me.

I'll get one of the 5 lb "logs" of ground chuck occasionally from the supermarket, and immediately make 1/3 lb burgers out of half of it to freeze and grill later.

I typically add to the beef:
Rib Rub
Crushed Red Pepper
Garlic
Pepper
Chopped Spinach (if i have it)
Onion Powder
and if I have time, I'll fry up some bacon, cut it tiny, and add it, too.

Freeze, wrap in foil, put frozen on the grill (add some butter if you're not worried about the health stuff) and mmmmmmmmmmmmm....serve with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapeno ketchup and brown mustard.

disagree, the only things I put in mine that aren't spices are spinach if I have it and bacon if I have time...Meat + spices =/= burger.

But, to each their own.

I'll measure my burgers out between 6 and 8 oz. Usually use a mix of ground turkey and chuck. I'll throw in chopper peppers (orange and red, sometimes jalapeno or something a bit hotter, but my lady isn't a fan of spicy food), garlic powder, salt and pepper. I like cooking mine medium well, not a fan of red in any of my beef/steak products.

After they cook, I top mine with mozzarella, ketchup, yellow mustard, dill relish, chopped baby spinach, grilled red onion and some tabasco. And some bacon if I have time to grill that, as well.

Ground beef is certainly fine rare if you trust the source. I don't eat beef from any other source.

I don't see the point of mixing in other animals other than health, because u must then cook to medium. And again, grassfed beef is actually healthy.

After seeing more alternative burger patties here, inns have to side with Brett's hardliner burgitude.

Only thing I throw in my burger prior to cooking is a little salt, pepper, and a tablespoon good stone ground mustard (to one lbs of beef)

To be meatloaf you really need to change the texture and consistency of the beef. Maybe my burger is meatloaf, it tastes awesome so I roll with it.

If you add salt to your beef prior to cooking, depending on how long before you cook, you will change the consistency of the beef.
