If you've been following the game threads the past few games I would say 100% of the members on here are with you. I most certainly am.

After seeing the team quit on him tonight. I would say if he can't get a win on friday and gets creamed by the celtics. He will be gone but I don't see any interim coach we bring in fixing things. Blame JR if your going to blame anyone. I can see the reasons for getting rid of vdn but i just don't see any good coming from it.

Firing the coach is just shifting the blame. You don't lose games by 30+ because the coach is bad, if you're losing by that much it's on the players.

To be clear, I'm not saying Vinny is a good coach, I'm saying he's being made a scapegoat here.

I partially agree. The players need to play, that's true. But the coach needs to put the players in the best position to succeed, that means game prepartion, solid offensive & defensive schemes, & defined roles & rotations. Vinny has failed in all these areas, dating back to last season. He's not a scapegoat. He's a failure & he's lost the team. When that happens, it's time for a new voice in the locker room.

Personally, I'd like to see what Pete Myers can do at the helm. He's been with the organization a long time & all the players seem to respect him. But it will probably be Bickerstaff since he's been a head coach before.

Well if you're going to put someone in with no experience coaching at all, you've got to expect they'll be a bit ... lacking ... you could say. Why hire someone like that if you're only going to give them a year to learn on the job?

Now I think (like everyone else) hiring someone with no experience is stupid. But given you've decided to go down that path, don't you have to make that decision for the long haul? If we just wanted a filler coach for a year or so, it'd have made more sense to hire some mediocre hack who was a known quantity. Hiring the new guy says we're going to give him time to grow and hopefully turn out to be something good.

Again, I don't think hiring Vinny was a good move, but if we're willing to fire him now, it makes hiring him both a bad and a completely illogical move.

And it was a bad & completely illogical move to hire him in the first place. We all have JR to thank for that.

I see your point though, & I certainly think he's scapegoated a bit here, but the fact is he's not doing his job & when you don't do your job usually you get fired. Unless you work for the Special person company I work for.

They weren't really any great candidates out there besides D'Antoni who choose us over the Knicks

JR ran him to the Knicks, he really wanted to coach the Bulls, the Bulls had players he liked and wanted.

If anyone expects a quick turn around with the bargain basement interim coach we get, they are in for a shock.

I just want to at least be competitive and somewhat enjoyable to watch. That's all I'm asking Vinny.

I wouldn't say ran as much as purposely stalled till he took the knicks job. Different companies have different interviews, JR just tried to wait it out.

When I think about it, the height of this season would've been struggling into the 7th ot 8th seed of the playoffs and getting smacked. I don't think a new coach will make that ceiling any higher, so they minus well hold on to Vinny until the end of the season. Hopefully, he can bad coach us into a nice high lottery pick. John Wall!!!

73% win percentage, that's why. He's not a terrible coach. He's a really good coach. But he's also a really demanding coach, which we all know what happened with the last demanding coach we had.

Regardless of what happened in the past Avery Johnson > VDN every day of the week. I'll take him any day.

I don't know why people think a new coach is going to do much to change the record. Even assuming that someone brilliant is hired, how soon can you reasonably expect that they'll be able to implement a new scheme? And even if he can make it happen overnight, what makes you think that Miller isn't just old, Salmons is capable of another good year, etc? The best scheme in the world isn't going to change the fact that outside of Deng/Noah/Rose there isn't anyone who looks like a NBA rotation player right now.

I'd rather just live with the rest of the year with Vinny (or an assistant if you need to fire him to be seen to be doing something) and get someone new in the off season when they can actually work with whoever is still on the team by then.
