Sorry this triggered you. You're right, of course. QB's aren't allowed to call audibles on their own or snap the ball in a timely matter. What the eff was I thinking?

Exactly.
I know what you were thinking. You were thinking that he's not a rookie QB but a 6th year Peyton Manning.

Eberflus just went numb after the Washington game. Also when Waldron got fired, he knew he was next. Just a matter of time
i agree, it's like the kicker tryout thing with Nagy after the double doink I don't think he ever recovered

They made him do a press conference first lmfao
I am beginning to wonder if Poles and Warren had him do that press conference to see what he was going to say. When Flus decided he was going to do everything but blame himself they decided he needed to go. If he would have stepped to the mic and said this is all on me he might have had a job till the end of the year.

the part that nobody is talking about is the Bears were dealt exactly 2 3 point losses to division rivals to achieve this. Trestman needed the Patriots and Packers hang 50 points on them by halftime.

the Bears joined the 21st century today, in theory. I wouldn't get too excited. it's still a cultural thing stemming from the ownership that's the core issue.

A good running game and plan would work wonders for Caleb’s progression. Waldron almost destroyed him. That’s Eberflus pick.
I prefer Caleb throw a **** ton this year so he can get reps. Think to when John Fox had Trubs and had him throwing like 15-20 times a game.

Caleb has thrown 412 time. Herbert who is obviously more accomplushed had only thrown 315 times. I suspect with a rookie QB Harbaugh throws even less so like 200-250 times. Personally I want Caleb to get the reps.

Why I would have been fine if we were sticking with Fields is Fields is who he is as a 4th year player and limiting his throws is how you have success for him.

I envision Caleb as more of a Manning with mobility so let him throw a **** ton and get it all on tape so he can be further along next year.

This is completely illogical. Caleb just gets pounded when he's throwing that many passes. And its not like some great plan to have Caleb throw more. Usually its because the Bears are a) playing from behind and b) completely unable to run the ball. Caleb's record with 30+ pass attempts is 0-7. His record with less than 30 pass attempts is 4-1.

I think the worst thing the Bears did in terms of developing Caleb was dumping the entire playbook on him and then asking him to throw 40 times a game. All that gave him was bad habits and happy feet. The "sink or swim" approach is very short-sighted.

Meatball - relax. I don't expect him to be a veteran HOF QB in his rookie year. I am simply saying while Flus and Co. are vastly in the majority to get the blame on this (and rightfully so), I expected more from Caleb on that play. Something...anything. But he'll learn. I'm still a fan of his. Chill.

That's as good of a guess as any why they let him do the presser and carry on like business as usual.

Yes, Flus is a raging asshat who needed to go. Especially for sitting on that timeout and terrible time management.

But shouldn't a majority of the blame go to Caleb on that last play?
He didn't get fired for that one specific play. He got fired because the team under his guidance was finding new and unique ways to lose week-in and week out.
