...sometimes center does not need to be awesome at the f/o when the line controls the play anyway.

I do agree that he can work on the the f/o% a bit, and I also wonder how much was from not playing a full season and a back that most likely was not 100%.[/quote]

A tender back will make taking faceoffs an absolute *****. Take it from someone who has played center most of his life. Back issues = terrible at faceoffs.

Yea, but in all honesty is that because you like Colin the person, or Colin the player? I think there are better 4th line Centers. There was a reason he was scratched most of the finals for Madden.

I liked Colin as well. Great guy, but average 4th line player. He'll get more playing time in Edmonton would be my guess. He and Khabi can talk about Stanley Cups.

Any chance this is just a short term salary dump to free up cap space to make qualifying offers to Hjalphabet and Niemi; then after July 1st resign Fraser?

I always thought Fraser was solid on the PK and I liked him but given that he was scratched most of the time it seems I hardly find it unexpected.

As for Burish not being back, is that rumor or is that RK confirmed.

No offense, but Burish being gone wouldn't bother me at all. Although losing him and Eager both takes away both or our primary "pests," yeah we still ahve Bolland, but until he is fully healthy, to me he doesn't fit the bill.

As far as Fraz being dealt. IMO he was never more than a 4th line grinder anyway. Yeah, he had some good qualities, but he is another of the "replacable cogs" in the Blackhawk machinery.

So who steps in now that Dustin Byfuglien is gone? Who will pester the heck out of Roberto Luongo? And who will send Chris Pronger flying into the end boards?

''We're going to have some guys from within emerge with some bigger roles,'' Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said.

Possible solutions mentioned by Bowman include an expanded role for Tomas Kopecky and more opportunities for Bryan Bickell, Jack Skille and Jake Dowell. It's interesting that Bickell and Skille, a former first-round pick, were named because both are restricted free agents and need to be signed.

Bickell for sure with the Hawks.

Skille, absolutely NOT. I can not believe this guy is still part

of the franchise. They really need to cut him loose and give

him some type of opportunity within the NHL. He is good enough

to play in the show but not good enough for our team.

I have no strong opinion on Skille either way. Which can be some sort of an indictment on a top ten pick.

I am curious as to your strong feelings on Skille. Something above the shoulders?
