My guess, and could be wrong, is that the Bear held Brisker out of the last 5 games to try and heal completely as opposed to just passing protocol. Concussions are brain bruises and these guys return when asymptomatic in testing but long before the bruise actually heals. It's why you often see them go down again in the same season and contributes to long term issues like CTE even if they don't have another official concussion. I'd wager that Brisker could have returned after the Thanksgiving game but the season was over, team in disarray and there was more to gain by sitting out. He now has a better chance of a concussion free season in 2025.

What troubles me and about last year's staff is that after the head to head hit that took out the larger opposing player and Brisker slow to get up, the staff didn't send him over to the tent for evaluation and he continued to play. Decisions like that are what takes a guy out for 1/2 a season.
Brisker said he didnt have symptoms until the day after the game which is not unheard of.

Anyone else at risk of being cut that would save a lot of cap?

Bates and Byard but they may wait on those given they are thin at OL and Brisker situation. Or they may be planning on keeping.

If Bears are cutting Walker then Josh Sweat in FA or DE in the first is probably what they plan to do for DE2. Just please dont draft Scourton at 10.

Hard pass on overpaying for Josh sweat who isn’t even an elite sack artist.

Hopefully this signals Mack on a 1-2 year deal or a Garrett trade. Def looks like the bears are ready to go ham in FA.

I certainly hope they don’t trade for Garrett. This team needs a lot more than a DE and Poles needs to nail several of these early picks.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with Chase Young.

Would love Mack to return but I would assume he chases a ring

This isnt what I want, its what I think they will do. Really suspect they are going DE in the first unless someone special falls.

Struggling to understand why the bears wouldn’t be able to trade for Garrett and still not upgrade other positions. They have a ton of cap and multiple 2nd round picks.

I wouldn’t hate young but they just released Walker, and they both had very similar production over the last 2 seasons so the deal would have to make sense. Walker was cheap and young made 13 mil last year.

Mack is my preferred choice.

After watching Robert Quinn go from 18.5 sacks to out of the league in one offseason I am super suspect of any athletic edge well into their 30's. Father time is often cruel and can strike quickly.
