My preference now if I am the Bears is to trade down and get an extra 2nd unless someone drops unexpectedly like Carter, Graham or Membou is gone.

Honestly the Bears can now draft pretty much any position outside QB as they have decent starters everywhere.

They can go OL or DL to add young depth. They can go after a RB to pair with Swift. They can go after Warren or Loveland if they want TE with more receiving ability tham Kmet. They can take a WR like Golden who can add speed in the slot. They can take an off-ball LB like Campbell. A safety like Nick E or Starks. Or even a CB like Johnson or Barron.

This draft is wide open for them now.

Our front-7 on D is mid at best, and clearly subpar for a playoff-level team so I disagree with the notion that Grady will be surrounded by much talent.

Regardless, I think it's a mistake to allocate that much of our remaining cap to a relatively old guy that is far more likely to decline in production over the course of the next 3 years. An idiot signing IMO.

Please let me know who the amazing and young DT for $14 million a year is available in FA that they passed on.

They actually may have a legit chance to get one though. Because thuney, Jackson and Jarrett haven't counted against the formula. I believe Taylor counted for them and Allen, Jenkins and Shelton may end up counting.

Yeah but Dalman counts and is likely getting a bigger deal than anyone left for the Bears.

Also bear in mind only 32 comp picks are handed out so they not only have to qualify but they have to qualify higher than others.

With the money being thrown around gotta imagine several teams will rank higher in the formula. Bears looking at a 5th or 7th at best.

It’s ALWAYS the year to worry about comp picks.
Nah we still building. Need to get to a point where we mostly resigning our own guys and letting big names walk while promoting draft picks.
