He could've tried something meaningful in FA but he did not. That is not a direct cause and effect either.
You can debate percentages but it at the end of the day waiting until round 3 to draft an elderly gadget player and ignoring WR in FA led to the 'need' to trade for claypool.

Duvernay is a 2x pro-bowl returner. It makes no sense to not have him be the guy unless he gets hurt. Although his yards per return on punts has plummeted.
