I know you're joking but his contract would be very easy to move if we wanted to.

I don't think we move on from Kmet until we see how Loveland adjusts to the NFL, however.

I could very easily see Kmet on another team next season.
Only kidding in the sense that I know it's a touchy subject. I've posted before that Kmet is a nice trade piece cause his contract, so I agree with your point. Bears can move him... and another team should want a guy of his caliber at the price point.

That said, I'd expect the Bears would do nothing to lose team leadership and talent this year. There's too much on the line and they're probably more likely to keep Kmet and not need him than trade him and risk a gaping hole at TE. If Loveland is a stud by the deadline (or the Bears are a disaster), maybe they'd think about it.

Kollman put out what I think is a good introductory video on the NFLs current salary cap meta:

Its not super detailed and he's not saying anything that isnt already known in the capnerd community, but I think its a nice video for someone that wants something more in depth than saying "the cap isnt real" but a little bit more accessible than reading multiple pages on Spotrac.

Well they traded Thuney instead. Which was the right move. But signing 49ers backup tackle as being the LT starter to big money is a head scratcher.

Don’t get me wrong here…. They are a well run organization…. But Mahomes sure helps cover up some things.

And it wasn't as much that they couldn't. It was more that they shouldn't. Having the top paid center, a top paid G in Thuney, and then a record setting deal at RG, with glaring issues at LT and others to sign was questionable cap management. It would've been a lot of investment at IOL on the cap. KC resolved that by trading Thuney though. Hopefully Thuney is good and it's a win-win for both sides.

A lot of things.

Every team last year outside of the eagles had obvious holes. Honestly - The eagles weren't even that good of a pass rush during the regular season. They just went up like 3 gears in the playoffs, which can happen in special runs. The bears had 1 last sack and were much better in pressures.

Elite QB's always cover up holes, why the main thing I want out of this season is for caleb to look like he can be an elite QB. If we have that guy the next 10-15 years this team will be competitive even if ryan poles is making FA/draft mistakes.

If you gave me the choice of the bears win 11 games but caleb looks more of the same(accuracy issues, sack issues, etc) or Caleb being a pro bowl/elite QB in year 2 while the bears win 8 games, I'll gladly take option #2. We've seen the first one too many times and I'm tired of depending on defense and a run game to win games
