A friend of mine called today and told me his friends have to get rid of their birds due to health problems. (feather dander or something I am guessing)

They have a cockatoo (mean motherfucker if the same one I've been told about), several other parrots, and then the two my buddy thought of me on:

They have 2 quakers that she "rescued".

My best friend was my quaker I had only for 22 years.

No. I didn't take the very kind offer of two free parrots.

There are many reasons.

I am going to contact all of my friends and such and help try to find some good homes for these birds.

(not only the quakers of course, noisy messy *******!)

I think there may be someone in the area that takes in and adopts out birds.

I will have my friend refer his friends.

I should ask to go meet these birds though I think.

Not that I am able to take any in right now, but I love birds. I always go see the birds when I get crickets for gecko girl, but they only have parakeets and cockatiels and finches and such.

They used to have a Macaw that was cool with me, but that was in......1998 or so.

Gecko girl is that old, crickets every week since 3-1997!

edit:

I have considered getting another parrot and I have pretty much decided that I really should (for certain reasons), but not now (for other reasons). If I DO get a knew bird at some point in the next few years, I think I want a bird from Loves Park, IL.

Parrotlets are tiny, quiet, and awesome!

I like the blue ones:

But this little evil looking motherfucker just looks too fucking cool:

No purple parrotlets that I have seen Bri.

Too bad there are no red ones for you to breed with the blue.

I really really LOVE the RED eyes on the yellow one (lutino).

How is the back? Are you back to work yet?

That yellow bird does look kind of evil. He would probably poop all over everything on purpose.

So it would be like having BHP over to your house?

I try MRI again tomorrow.

Couldn't lay still on my back when I tried Friday.

Doc got me some valium and extra strength vicodin for tomorrow..

Not back to work yet, I've been sore again since they laid me down for MRI attempt.

Ugh.

I can lay on my side just fine to sleep.

I can lay on my back too, but not with my head back, I need a big thick pillow.

You should get a body pillow. I love mine and have slept much better since I had it.

If it doesn't work with the meds, ask for an "open/upright" MRI.

Thanks Winos.

The MRI people told me if it doesn't work with meds they will refer me to a place where they use anesthesia. They don't have that system here at our hospital.

I will be sure to ask about the upright/open system though, maybe they would consider that a better referral to give me.

I really hope it works tomorrow. Sitting in the car hurts a bit and sends arm into haywire mode and I don't want to have to travel much out of town.

I am pretty nervous about my MRI in the morning.

Not really the MRI itself but I am nervous about the drugs.

I have taken Vicodin for really bad pain and it works. Some of my friends have had to learn the hard way, but I have recognized its power as something not to **** around with.

Never had Valium though. I've had SOMA and other muscle relaxers and they all make me sleepy.

Nervous about big sleepy from Valium.

Time for regular sleep now. Early druggy day tomorrow.

He's pining for the fjords. He's just shagged out from a loud squawck. Beautiful plumage on the Norwegian Blue.

MRI says I have a bone spur in my neck.

Sucks but certainly beats a slipped disc. (I think anyway)

Anyone familiar with bone spurs?

What are they supposed to do? Cut me open and grind off bone spur?

I am clueless on this one.

If this day shift bullshit sticks after I go back to work I think I might get parrotlet in spring or summer.

I really like those lutinos with the red eyes and yellow feathers. Hens don't talk as much but Ruby would be a good name for a lutino parrrotlet girl. She can be just as smart even if she doesn't talk.

I think if the bone spur is causing issue, then yeah, they grind it off....but I'm no doctor and am the type that only goes when there's a pretty good chance the limb can't be reattached.
