Naw you cut the kernels off the cob. Family in Western Illinois/Eastern Iowa are big on this to have good corn all year

Cool! Thanks for clarifying.

Oober, are you cutting the kernels off the cob before freezing or freezing the whole cob?

And number51, that's you in the video?

Yes I am..... If I were to leave on the cob for the freezer, the flavor changes dramatically. Not for the good...

Just form them, freeze them, then vac seal after frozen

I've tried that, it's not great because it's hard to get all the air out between the round frozen burgers, I guess if they were square they would fit together better, fewer gaps. That's why they change shape pulling a vacuum on thawed, it's taking all the air from between the patties. It's easy to reshape them after thawing, it's not like the whole bag turns into a meatloaf.

Also great for stuff in the fridge, lunch meat and cheese, leftovers.

I love corn, but seems like a lot of work. Is it that much better than frozen?

Anywho, here's a vid on how to vacuum seal without a vacuum sealer

The point is vac-sealed and then frozen can taste like fresh corn when you take it out and thaw/cook/eat it.

If you just freeze corn, it will come out and taste like frozen corn...

The whole point of this thread was the value of vac-sealing and freezing stuff.

So vac sealing makes it taste fresh where frozen does make it taste bad.

Never really saw a need to vac seal meat.

And, I presume, can be kept longer in the freezer before it would taste bad.

I've never kept anything in the freezer long enough to go bad, freezer burn is not a thing with no air. I've never seen anything go bad in the fridge when sealed, I guess it's possible with enough time, I'm not patient enough to finish that experiment.

I demand you keep some meat vac-sealed for 12-18 months so I know if it sucks when you unfreeze and eat it.

How can you keep anything that long?

I'll start now and get back to you after the Bears have won the SB.

I'm just wondering, will this be before or after Ted Williams is thawed out?

He was never vacuum sealed so he's a mess and will taste terrible.
