Just went back and looked at the Langford video, it was a screen called.

And the Miller play was a checkdown. You're missing the grander point..but whatever.

How the play went to him? Three steps and the ball out to Miller. One, two three. I know what I see on the video.

from Wikipedia:
"a checkdown pass is when the quarterback attempts to complete a short, accurate pass to a running back or tight end as a last option when the wide receivers are covered."

None of the receivers were actually covered on that play. It was the first read.

they were both set plays, neither was a check down.

Holy shit, Miller was the shortest pass catching option out in the pattern. The LB sat down inside on the Jeffery hitch and Cutler "checked it down" to Miller in the flat.

What's your issue?

You're concentrating on all the wrong things here.

But you don't understand basic play structure and route combinations.

I think the issue is that he is interpreting a check down to be a broken play.

This...was..the...point

He thinks you saying he checked it down was a negative on Cutler...when you actually were praising Cutler on both of those passes, regardless of the end result

Not at all, I want Gase to get the credit for the right call. The call was for the out to Miller. Gase's call.

LOL if you think that's how plays are called in the NFL.

yes they are. They come in with a primary read based on the formation. Option 1 and then 2 and 3 and to the checkdown.

Holy shit that's not true. Even then, Gase can't call the play based on the formation the defense is in because he doesn't know the formation until AFTER the play is called and they are standing at the line.

You have zero clue what you're talking about.

Thanks for playing.
