If Glennon somehow revives hit career and plays lights out you let him keep playing. Having Trubisky ride the bench for a year or two isn't a bad thing. I just don't see Glennon rising as far as people hope. He has been in the league for a while now he would of sparked some interest elsewhere if anyone had any faith in him. I do hope and expect him to play better then Cutler so as far as that goes he hopefully will be an improvement.

How would Pace explain trading away a pro bowl QB? The pressure on Trubisky would be monumental.

"I can draft a box safety AND a five tech with the picks I got, then take a flier on a quarterback on day 3."

Way too mAny injuries happen to think about trading either guy.

I hope Glennon plays well and earns his contract and Trubisky learns as much as possible.

Let the best one play and the other be a backup. The reality is the payroll for both for the next three years is totally manageable.

actually, considering the last QB for the Bears to go to a Probowl was in 85 it would be fairly impressive......

let me make this clear....Mike Glennon will not go to the Pro Bowl unless he makes it in as like a 10th alternate or something....

Cutler was a pro-bowler, just not for the Bears. He crapped out when he came to the Bears.

The Bears, where WRs, QBs and coaches come to die.

Frankly, I think you keep both and start Glennon one more year to make him prove it isn't a fluke. Mitch can wait his turn - it won't kill him.

That's where I say trade him and make someone else prove he wasn't a fluke.
This is the Bears, if he wasn't a fluke he'll surely be Knoxed the second year.

Especially with Glennons long neck waving in the breeze.

What if Glennon plays really well and win games? We keep the #2 overall on the bench indefinitely?
The Bears paid 18.5 million for the opportunity to trade Glennon if he plays well. It's the only thing that makes sense about the whole thing. The Bucs stated that they've gotten calls about Glennon for the better part of two seasons. Pace was one of those guys that called last year. He knew he wanted Trubisky, he also knew that Glennon was a hot trade commodity. So Pace wins either way. If he doesn't wind up with Trubisky, he can say Glennon was the guy he wanted all along. If he ends up with Trubisky, he can trade Glennon after 2018 when he has a favorable contract (assuming he plays well).

In the Bear's eyes they have two shots to improve their qb situation....lets face it, both guys are NFL unknowns but they are giving the Bears a greater possibility of better QB play.....We know what we had with the last crop but this will at least give a chance at a better QB....

Unless they are trading for or signing a known quantity this really seems to be the next best alternative.

I absolutely LOATHED the Glennon signing. It made no sense. None. Now, I kind of get it. I don't think Glennon got it, but he should have. If Pace can do with Glennon what the Eagles did with Bradford, then all those people saying Pace got hosed by Lynch will be washing his balls.

Glennon plays lights out, so does Trubisky. Meanwhile Winston falls apart. Bears trade Glennon to Tampa for 2 first round picks...

We have Trubs for 5 years. If Glennon makes Pro Bowl he gets a second year. If he makes second Pro Bowl the next year, I'd consider trading Trubisky. But you wont get more than a second because of lack of hype.

I don't get this. Rodgers sat behind Farve I believe for 3 or 4 years. If Glennon plays well Trubisky sits until it is his turn. Simple as that.

Rodgers sat 3 years behind #4 and turned out just fine. If Glennon has a great season he remains the starting QB and MT is his backup in year 2. MT can have the starting position when he proves in practice that he deserves the spot. I cant stand the idea of giving a player a starting job. Get in, and earn it and beat out your competition. Everything is earned, nothing is given.

Be a tough pill to swallow with 18.5 mil backup. But fuck it, isn't my money.

There's really not any reason the money spent on Glennon is preventing the Bears from doing anything else in free agency. They could have spent any amount of money they chose to outside of the Glennon contract there merely wasn't anyone to spend that money on.
