Fair enough - doesn't really mean much to me though. Doesn't make Brouwer a cheap shot artist or some goon. He plays hard and good for him.

Brouwer, "I cross checked and cheap shotted more of my former friends in the last two weeks, all in order to win again".

Again the guy admits to dirty play and you ignore it. The whole Blues team plays that way, Go ahead and tip your hat though in your writings.

How is Oduya a poor mans Brian Campbell? Extremely different players.

Yea I know they are totally different players, JO has some speed and athleticism, Campbell is more gifted though . They are both more than competent Dmen but any GM in the league would take BC first, that's why I said JO is a poor man's Campbell.

Yea...I don't think I really saw any of that out of Brouwer. He played hard and afterall...this is the playoffs for god sakes. Good for him for playing hard and doing what it takes to win (which didn't involve cheapshotting).

Thanks for a good season, Blackhawks. This team will be in it again next year and they will have a better answer if they meet up with St Louis again in the first round. In the mean time I will take solace from the Cubs beating the piss out of the Cards.

Where does bowman begin?

Oh yeah....the blueline where the coach saw fit to play a guy they dumped to sweeden or Finland or somewhere for 6 months.....that guy was the 5th most reliable defender on your team and had to be inserted in game 4 to help out?

Tvr
Gustafson
Runblad
Too similar players

Rosivald....time to retire

Svedberg....does not look like he can skate/play at this level

Bowman needs at least one defenseman.....wait....he can watch em all that he traded away in the pit and dal series.

Hes also got holes up front with a bunch of fa, a declining hossa and stagnant teuvo (although pairing him with hossa and shaw on a 3rd line might help all involved)

At least we can all agree on one thing; Toews was the undisputed MVP of this series.

Probably one of the best series I've seen in a long time (besides the crap outcome).
We're fortunate to be seeing the golden years of this franchise. We're now beginning to see the sun setting on this core, but it's way better than what it was circa 2000.
We'll see who moves and who stays. I think if they can they should move Hossa without having to fear him retiring.
I'd like to see Shaw stay, but he may be a cap casualty.
I really like what I saw in Panik, even though his late brainfart caused a bad PK.

Time to start looking at the free agent sites to see who I think could be a future blue liner for the Hawks.

2 things as I recover.

1.) I hate that they had to go out to anyone, but especially the blues. But I am glad that they didn't drag this out and went down early. If they were going to lose the thing I am glad they didn't drag it out. Now they can get some much needed rest for next season. I don't know many teams/players that have played more hockey in the last few years than the hawks.

2.) The end of series handshake is still one of the best traditions in hockey. Especially seeing the guys talk to each other after some brutal moments in this series.

I can't believe he started the year unable to crack the lineup for the freaking Maple Leafs.

This is probably a pipe dream but goddammit would I love Brian Campbell back on the Hawks.

I don't think anything is a pipe dream.
Campell has made his coin, so he may do a 1 or 2 year deal on the cheap(er) for another crack at the Cup, although he is more of an offensive blueliner. I would figure they would be looking more of the stay-home type that would probably amass 15-20 points, but shore up the PK to alleviate minutes from 2,4 and 7. If I remember correctly, 51 wasn't killing off too many PIMs as of late.

Campbell still has a lot of ties to the area. Wife is from the suburbs, still has a house here, has trained in the summer here, and actually participates in a couple Blackhawks outtings/events (mostly golf and charity related) in the area. He could be an option but the money will likely kill the deal - even though he got paid and then enjoyed making an extra 700k a year with the favorable taxes in Florida.

Edit: Campbell actually played a good amount of PK for the Panthers this year. I wouldn't think that is a big concern for the Blackhawks though because their current top 4 are all guys who play heavy PK minutes.

Could be a fit but obviously a lot has to (and likely will) happen.

Hossa is one of the biggest diminishing returns at the moment in a Hawks sweater.
64 GP, 13G, 20A for 33 points-- most of which on a line with Toews.
Maybe it's a bad year, he's banged up, or he's slowing down much quicker than we thought.

I have a ton of respect for 81, but if the Hawks can work a deal to move him for a high pick or #3 Dman, pull the trigger. He may be the best card they have at landing an experienced D man, because Bickell isn't going anywhere.

Bickell HAS to go somewhere and I think we are going to see that this offseason. The Blackhawks are going to have to make it happen and it is likely going to cost them. Wouldn't surprise me if the Blackhawks include the rights of someone like Shaw with Bickell just to make a deal happen.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Campbell is a puck mover. DMelt is right....if he has anything left in the tank, he'd be huge in moving the puck up ice. Other than Keith and to a lesser extent, Seabrook...the Hawks don't have any dmen who are adept at skating with the puck on their stick. The opposition loads up a lot on Keith and if you noticed the Hawks have been using Kane more and more on PP entries. All of this stuff is what Campbell used to excel at....IF he can still play that style at age 36. He's a smart guy and has done some stuff on CSN off and on....he knows the Hawk's, I'm sure he knows their cap situation, so it would be up to him.
