Hot take - each time Trubisky plays is worse than the week prior
This year or in totality? I would agree he's regressed since week 1, and week 1 was bad. This is why I was rolling my eyes at the people who were throwing out the patience card and getting angry at people who were critical of the QB performance. What they didn't realize, and what I've been saying is that if there was ever a time for the Bears and Trubisky to come out looking great it was the opening game. GB had absolutely no idea what to expect since the Bears played it safe in pre-season. They had no idea how bad Trubisky was going to be, or how the Bears were going to try to use their new weapons, so the advantage was clearly in the Bears favor. The fact that they were unable to take advantage of that opportunity was a little alarming to me.
What happens—and what I feared going into week 2 and beyond—was that the offense and Trubisky would regress once teams had a chance to look at the film and adjust to Trubisky's weaknesses. Suddenly, that element of surprise is gone, which means it gets back to Trubisky simply being able to read defenses and react to what the opponents have scouted against him, which he has been failing miserably at.
The difference between bad and mediocre players and good/great players is being able to adjust once you've been properly scouted. Until I see otherwise, I fear Trubisky is just another 1st round bust you can put on Ryan Pace's resume. Quite honestly, I would take mediocre right now, and we're not even getting that.
