To tag on to this, over the years how many programs have you stopped watching because...bad? Do you keep watching and complain or move on? Asking for a friend.

Dexter and the Walking Dead are the two that come to mind.

GoT is taking a shit with like, 4 episodes left after 8 seasons of excellent TV. It's dumb to expect people to bail at this point. Everyone knows when the finish line is, and it's 2 weeks from now. It's not like we're all in season 3 and it's going to absolute shit with no end in sight.

51's argument, such as it is, is pretty dumb, and overly hyperbolic.

Some of us are holding out hope that rather than an entirely bad season, there was just a few bad episodes, . This has happened in the past, so it not out of the realm of possibility.

For instance

episode 1 ........pretty good
episode 2......... just sorta meh, but not terrible
episode 3......... wtf did I just watch
episode 4.........started out ok, then went back to wtf


As each episode is like feature length movie, with many of them directed by different directors, this happens.
Unfortunately, the writing has been so bad, no matter of good directing might save this season.

Personally, I've liked this season, but I think the complaints have been somewhat valid and I enjoy reading different opinions on the matter.

I want cersei to win. If the Starks or Targs wind up on the throne I feel like it would be a betrayal of the show. Smart people win in GOT, not good people. That’s been one of the main messages in the entire show. Ned got his head put on a stick and Robb met a similar fate for being dumb. Cersei has outsmarted Tyrian / Dany / Jon every step of the way and quite honestly deserves the throne.

Not sure she outsmarted everyone. More like she has been shown less than others in Season 8 so less of a victim of plot induced stupidity that plagues the characters this season.

Although she deserves to lose for not attacking Tyrion, Dany and the Dragon last episode. The Cersei of the first 7 seasons would have attacked.

I find it cathartic to lolz about the shitty writing on here.... similar to when the Bears sucked and I found it cathartic to join CBMB in 2005 when they lost that playoff game to the Panthers because they couldn't cover Steve Smith.

If not for Little Finger they would have completely killed house stark at the battle of the bastards. They killed Stannis. Jamie rooted out the Tyrell’s. Either through Tywin, Cersei, Jamie, or Tyrion house Lannister has outsmarted and systemically destroyed everyone to engage them. They deserve the iron throne and Cersei is the only one left.

Edit: yes they didn’t technically kill Stannis but defeated his army at black water

So it has been pretty much give and take throughout. Been more the case of Stark stupidity than some brilliant plan by the Lannisters.

Although at least with Ned and Robb their stupidity felt in character and a result of their misplaced sense of honor.

I will say one thing positive except the euron actor the rest of the acting has been good. The actors do a good job portraying their character. But I reiterate except the euron actor. If I want to see jack sparrow I would watch pirates of the carribean

They are great at treachery and suck on the battlefield. You need both to win and that is why they will lose.

The Lannisters simply started from a better position because of Cersei being married to the King and LF serving up Ned to them. If they were actually great they would already have the Iron Throne locked up. They dont because no one likes them.

Part of being deserving is not having every major house happy to see you destroyed. They had to buy mercenaries because no one really wants to fight for them. They inspire no one.

This season (independently) is still better than 97.5% of all shows. Problem is that the bar was previously set ridiculously high and it’s come crashing down from Soprano’s level to Walking Dead level.

Cersei has been hanging on by her fingernails, a brilliant strategist she is not (unlike tywin). The empowerment of the Faith of the Seven nearly got her killed.

Had Yara not gotten to Dany first, chances are Euron would be allied with Dany, not Yara and Theon, so, no GC for Cersei.

Perhaps, and the bar was set high, but the show did take two years for this fiasco, and promised us great things with a never been seen before budget.

Hey 51, slightly off topic here but I need a quick recommendation for a good restaurant. The problem is my previous favorite got a new chef that just sucks, I've been going there for the last 8 years but that last meal I had was terrible. Not going to waste any more time on them, I can't imagine why I'd ever go back, it would just be something to complain about.

No one watches bad TV to see how it ends, it is either overall worth watching or it isn't. They are still watching so they still like the show even with it's flaws, but complaining about the show is so much cooler.
