PP blows because of the system Q and his assistants have in place. Remember during the offseason we were told it was Haviland who held the PP back from being great? Well he is gona and it still blows. I love Q, but his PP schemes blow ass.

It is also not all his fault as the PP may be semi-useful if we had size to put in front of the net. That's on the front office (and no I am not calling for Byfuglien to come back)

I think Haviland was in charge of the PK for the large majority and Kitchen the powerplay. Kitchen, Barry Smith (Brought in specifically for the PP), and Kompon have now done the PP.

I really have a hard time "blaming" the coaches on this one as the powerplay is pretty straight forward, it isn't anything ground breaking or rocket science here. The players have to execute and they haven't been able to do that in several areas on the powerplay.

I remember reading specifically this summer that Haviland was relieved due to poor special teams play. I assumed PP

Haviland was in charge of the PK last year, I'm pretty sure. I think Haviland was released because Q made that decision, seems like he wanted his "own" guy. Haviland was "given" to him.

Either way it is BS. I like Haviland :)

Yeah, he seemed like a good guy. But that's life in pro sports.....here today, gone tomorrow.

it still sucks...

It's like the day when the Hawks traded Jocelyn Thibault...terrible terrible day

The scheme does blow...and yes, it would be wonderful to have some size in front of the net...but, the real question is if Q would actually use the guy if he had them? And, unfortunately, the answer seems to be no. Is Bickell out front? No. What about Hayes when he was up? Not really. Q would rather have one of his small "grit" guys in front of the net. Or, he would just like to have that stupid backdoor pass EVERY DAMN TIME!!!

Q is a good coach, maybe a great coach...but is he right for this team anymore? That is my question. I honestly think that alot of the time this team wins in spite of Q and his assistants.

Sadly that moment is the Kyle Calder trade for me...

I'm recalling that last year Haviland was on the pp to start the year and they swapped at some point. I recall improved pk with him initially.

I liked Haviland but when he ran the Pp it was often when we saw constant attempts at the backally passes from beside the net. 2 years ago it worked constantly but it failed so,much last year to a frustrating degree. It wasn't until that coach swap that they got away from it.

This year its been a rare play. When its been possible they've made attempts but never seem dedicated to setting it up as they were the last two years.

I remember when many a Hawks fan was posturing how the Hawks PP had turned the corner from the early success this year on a couple 5 on 3's and an own goal. Funny how things quickly change.

Theres too much talent on the Hawks PP. Players out of position like Sharp and Bolland playing point and neither are good at it, not a definitive front of the net presence and an over reliance on two plays that the league has caught up to.

Tampon isn't a PP coach, his history as one suggests its true. The only players who deserve to be out there on it are Kane and Hossa, everybody else is interchangeable.

That back door play to Sharp on the PP was a Haviland play. He did the same with the Icehogs in their first year in the AHL. it was always St.Pierre feeding Brouwer or Versteeg.

What to do with Brandon Saad

No points and a -2 this series. We need someone who can complement Toews and Hossa better, Saad is too much like them.
