I fully expect to see Daniels get at least a few reps with the first team at center this week.

I hope the first team gets a few reps next week. Pretty tough going against Denver at altitude so they will probably put the bubble wrap around them there too.

Who has a hard on for Kush? I and others have mentioned that he filled in nicely in 2016 but I haven’t heard anyone say he is a stud. I was hopeful he could provide depth but if he has fell off then cut his ass.

He is a monster. Built straight from and Iowa OL factory. Did anyone watch him push the pile twice as the Center? Our starting OL with Kush looked terrible tonight. I know we have people who have a hard on for Kush, for whatever reason, but he's nothing more then a solid back up. IDC if Daniels plays Center or Guard, even though he will be a 10x better Center then Whitehair, just get him in the starting 5. I expect we will hear about some changes this coming week.

God Bless

I wish I had a rebuttal; Kush and Whitehair didn't look-so-hot. The only caveat I would say is that Daniels wasn't facing #1s, but I think I'm of the "Get Daniels in their soon" camp too.

I'd just like to point out that HawkBear was the very first poster here who wanted to draft Daniels, and immediately talked about him being the starting center.

Hahaha I am an Iowa alumn as well. But you didn't see me yelling from the mountain tops about how Ricky Stanzi was going to crush it in the NFL. Or Marvin McNutt and a host of other Hawkeyes who didn't amount to anything.

James Daniels should be in the starting line up. He looked really good last night and I would think seriously about playing him at C and move Whitehair to OG.

They are making him earn it. My guess is that he is going to start the 3rd preseason game when he has "earned it".

That's why he's a premium member.

The fact that HawkBear isn't a meth head like 83% of the rest of Iowa is pretty amazing as is. So let's give the guy some props eh?

Don't meth with us!

O-Line week 1 needs to be Leno/Whitehair/Daniels/Long/Massie

This is just so obvious even us meatball fans that argue about every fucking thing under the sun can all agree this should be the starting 0 line.

Then why can't the coaching staff getting paid millions of dollars figure this out? Any way we can get a message to Nagy? If this is not the starting unit week 1 then I am going to have serious doubts about the competence of this staff.

Daniels was really good, a scary mix of base strength and athleticism to get to the second level. The way he anchored against the bullrush and then pancaked his guy on the
goal line was incredible. Get his hands in order and he will be a stud for a decade. Easily starting two weeks from now, I think.

He did well against backups. Time to give him some starter snaps at guard or center to see how he fares against real NFL tier players. He didn't look good against our backups in camp when they played him at guard.
