I havent even fired it yet..It was so nice, I laquered the brass receiver so it wouldnt tarnish and I hung it over a doorway, right below the bear trap I bought on E-bay years ago

That's great you won the Henry. I'll figure out the bear. Elk is easy. It's meaty, like meat.

While I would certainly take a free Henry rifle, I am not sure I would buy one. I've looked at a lot of them over the years cause I have always wanted a lever action .22, but I am so much more a fan of the Winchester 94-22. I had a buddy that sold one before I could tell him I would buy it and he sold it to a gun store for about half of what it was worth. I was not pleased when i found that out.

Some places Bears eat a TON of fruit. When that happens, the Bear gaines sweetness and a bit of acidity which cuts the fish fed fatness or greasiness. Its so good. Delicious chunks lightly grilled in green chili and purple Canadian potatoes.

Maybe make some smoked jerky out of the bear meat? And congrats BearsBud.

Im not even a fan of a lever action..The Henry looks nice though..Even the caliber is meh. That 44-40 is nothing to brag about, as it lacks punch..My buddy has one that I fired and it didnt impress me..I dont even have ammo for it.....But it is what it is I guess,a throwback to the old days..Looks great on the wall though...lol..... I have black Bears roaming in my front yard day and night..I had to shoot one that kept coming up on my front porch years ago..

Also, I had one trying to climb up the side of my house to get to a bird feeder my wife put up

Never had Bear meat. Had Elk once at an expensive restaurant while traveling for work - single greatest meal I've ever had.

Bird feeders attract bears.
