our friend means well but understands that we, or well, I, are/am peckerwoods, so is just trying to be cautious. And although the old battle axe is korean by birth, she can't speak it fluently.

The more expensive international chain hotels, like Marriott, etc. will not pose a real problem. The KTX rail has a line that does 300 KM/H. Not quite the bullet train, but will still get you from Seoul to Busan in under 3 hours. Lots of flights, less than an hour in length. A flight will probably be about 3-4 times the cost of the train.

When I was in Korea, I did what I did when I first went to Japan and bought a visitor's week long rail pass. Great way to get around both countries and it's really convenient. Lots of local travel between Seoul and Busan, and that is why I say aim for a weekday.

I liked Korea, and the language and alphabet is very interesting (being somewhat phonetic), and in a way much easier to learn than Japanese or Chinese.

Thanks, sir. I'm making it more of a point to get there than she is, but I know it's important to her, so all this helps very much. I think I will buy us a flight while there and be done with it.

Have fun.

If you have the time, try to learn a few characters before going (there's really only 24), and you'll start figuring out the syllable blocks pretty easily.

As an internet friend, I have to tell you that you're giving off a serious rapey vibe with that gif.

i havent been to s korean since 87-88, so i cant tell you how cheap shit is now - i paid 9$ for Reeboks back then. my buddy was stationed there back in the 2000s and came back to murica with about 20 tailor-made suits for 30 bucks a piece - half were silk. i think he said he paid about the same for several different years of nike air maxs in different colors...which he had 20-30 pair too.. it was funny seeing him as a disgusting cheap shit glutton.

the food was good. dont try and learn the language.. just go all out ignorant american. even though they speak english in oz i still pull the immigrant card and mispronounce shit on purspose..

I'm not a big fan either honestly.

Korea in May...I feel like this should be a hippie song in the vein of California Dreamin.
