No its not funny, its food. For the record when I was there dog was much more exspensive than beef. You wont eat it by mistake.

I realize that it is food. Doesn't mean I want to see that.

http://seoulistic.com/travel-to-korea/how-to-travel-by-rail-in-korea/

Good site if you want to get a discount rail pass offered to foreigners. If you and the wife plan on traveling together then you can get the saver pass for two adults.

As for things to do, unfortunately you missed the cherry blossoms blooming and the various festivals associated with it as that happens in March and April. The below has some pretty good ideas. I have been to most of the places noted here and would definitely recommend the Royal Palaces, the War Memorial, and the shopping stuff. Aside from that the DMZ tours are pretty good as you get to go in the tunnels NK in the event they ever invaded Seoul as well as you can go over to NK for a couple of hours just to see how a basic town in NK looks. It's all very controlled and supervised so nothing to worry about and you get a visa stamp in your passport if you want although that may raise questions when you go back to the US.

Call me a pussy, but why would any American in their right mind travel to North Korea, knowing about their recent detention of Americans for bullshit reasons? What if they find out you have a copy of "The Interview" on your iPad.. that's 10 years hard labor right there. I wouldn't want to take that chance.

Is the JSA worth seeing or just the DMZ? I am fine with the DMZ but my wife says there's a tour of both and the bridge of no return

You plan on stopping by any zoos while you're out there?

My friend went to a wild animal park there in the '90s. He went to the lion habitat in a bus that was modified so that the sides were just huge windows. Tied to those windows were huge pieces of raw meat. The hungry lions would then come attack the bus/food while everyone on the inside of the bus gets to watch. He said it was pretty crazy.

So they're not in cages?

Ok well that question was for those who've been but guess we'll have to 'fend for ourselves' but at least we aren't in a zoo

Not the ones at the wild animal park. At those places, the animals roam around a large outdoor area, and at this particular place you get to drive through it in a bus.

I'm going to drop this in between the snarky circle-jerks: what is the difference between the JSA and the DMZ? I can see the JSA from the DMZ?
