Biggs is basically running with message board rumors to make an article during down time in the offseason
Yeah, it doesn't mean anything. At the same time the coach saying he is going to report also doesn't mean anything, since he already was unexcused once.

Until we hear from Goldman it is nothing but a big question mark. Can't blame people for thinking that he might retire in this situation.

Brad Biggs is not one to just make things up.

I don't know why Eddie Goldman would retire, even if he does want to walk away from football. He still has guaranteed money left on his deal, money he gets regardless of his injury status or on-field effectiveness. He can easily find some reason to land himself on the non-football injury list, which means he's out his salary but still gets his bonus.

I'm guessing he has as much information as Zimmerman and a completely contradictory story. The coaching staff and players don't have a clue so Biggs is clearly just throwing shit at the wall in case he might be right

Brad Biggs has never indulged in this type of clickfarming nonsense though. The guy is a legit Bears insider why would he jeopardize that by making up stuff like this that would alienate him from the organization?

This is the guy who was in on the Bears pursuit of Trent Williams when nobody else had it and who calls all the Bears draft picks five minutes before the pick is in every year. He doesn't need to play these games.

a lot of people dig on Biggs because he used to be chunky or they say he looks stressed out but I think out of all of these reporters he is the Tony Soprano of Bears reporting and I'm certain he's got a good connection

Yeah, I really disagree. His M.O. is to basically report rumors while saying something like, "I'm not saying this is true, but **here's** what some are saying behind the scenes."

Basically, he rolls with rumors and covers his ass if he's wrong by saying, "Well, I even said I wasn't sure it was true." Very bullshitty way to go about being a sports reporter. Loves to have his cake and eat it too.

Think about what he's actually reporting here.

He's reporting that he's hearing from "a league source" that Goldman "could be weighing retirement." He doesn't say the league source is in-the-know. He doesn't say that the source knows Goldman's thoughts firsthand. He doesn't say that Goldman has told anyone he's weighing retirement. Rather, he seems to be reporting that a league source personally thinks that there's a chance Goldman could retire. That's really not much, guys.

We'll have some idea what's going on with him on July 27th. Till then, one rumor is as good as the next, but no better.

Agreed, though to quote the satire "Fear of a Black Hat", I have my suspicions.

Im going to agree with Montucky here, and hate myself for that. Say what you want about Biggs, but he’s had to put his stuff through a much more stringent editorial process than, say Zimmerman.

Well the difference between Brad Biggs and <random guy off Twitter> is that we know Brad Biggs has real sources within Halas Hall. I have zero issue with him reporting on things that are speculative, that's kind of his job. If you really think he's fabricating all this out of whole cloth that's fair. Its not uncommon in today's world at all. But if you don't take Biggs' word for it then you probably don't take anyones. The guy is far and away the most plugged in person to the Bears.
