But I can't see the Cubs selling the farm for him.

He's a Free Agent soon, think he has one more year in San Diego left.

Yep, FA after the 2011 season. Levine says if Gonzo is traded it will be between the end of the season thru the Winter Meetings.

MLB daily Dish had an intersting post today....

A Carlos Zambrano-Adrian Gonzalez base trade. They also said spects will have to be inlcuded from both sides. Do I see this happening? No but I wouldn't mind it. But, it's a good thought.

What? San Diego has enough pitching, and no offense with Gonzo.

Even if Z was guaranteed to be as good as he has lately all year, it still wouldn't make sense o put him in San Diego.

That was one crappy piece of speculation.

I understand you're the messenger, I don't believe I was bashing you.

No no no. I refuse to click on that. I appreciate you give credit, but I shall avoid it. Any discussion regarding this ought to be harshly criticizing the unreasonable/lack of thought from whomever that idea came from. Bad.

There is just no way anything good can come from reading that post.

In sane trade talk regarding Gonzalez and the Cubs, I just don't see it being worth it. At minimum we have to trade Brett Jackson and either McNutt or Archer, along with another couple of bodies. All so we can add Gonzalez to a lineup full of holes and question marks.

If the Cubs really want him, the best plan is to pay him after next season, so we don't lose any assets. Like I said before though, I don't see the Cubs paying Cabrera like money anytime soon.

Really, you don't think on the top of the list for SD be a young, promising SS that the Cubs have?

The only way I read this post is because I'm following MLBDD on twitter and when it said "Carlos Zambrano to San Diego", I had to open it and read it.

I just have a feeling, the Padres wll keep him all winter and until the trade deadline. The Padres will not be in contention and will deal him at the deadline. Then, the team that acquired him will sign him to an extensions. So, the Cubs will not have a chance to sign him. That's how I see it going down.

I see Gonzo going to the Red Sox if they don't re-sign Beltre.
