Hopefully this is simply more scare tactics involving their negotiations with Arlington Heights.

It would make more sense to utilize the land in Arlington Heights for a modern Bears community with a new state of the art stadium, Bears hall of fame facility, hotels, restaurants, and countless other things.

Kevin Warren is like Woke Ted Phillips. I haven't been impressed with him thus far.

And with the 'footprint' to build any size stadium they desire with parking to match, all of the other facilities you mentioned(all money-makers) and two highways and a Metra line to bring fans right to it's door. AND.......they already own this property to build on without any of the legal delays, political complictions and zoning regulations they'll encounter on the lake front. Only the Bears.....I'll tell ya!

I listened to Warren's press conference and I was wishing and wishing one of the reporters would ask him where the parking was going to be. Of course no one did.

Never ask the obvious.

Bears are cheap and kevin warren is a Joy vampire, he gets boners thinking about how much misery he can cause bears fans.

He likely told the mccaskeys that he can talk the city of chicago to use tax money to pay for a large chunk of the stadium vs the bears having to front most of the cost in arlington.

George heard that and said HELL YEA!

In the long run any logical businessman knows that owning your own stadium and sorrounding entertainment venues/hotels would create a much longer revenue down the road.

Arlington would have a casino, hotel, retail, bars, etc that the bears would all get a large cut of - In order to see a profit it would take time tho. I heavily doubt George is going to keep the team too much longer after ginny's death.

I just want a reporter to ask "Kevin, some say you are out of touch with the average bears fan. It seems like the majority of the fanbase is against a stadium on the lakefront, why do you keep going against their wishes?"

Dude is a fucking clown sitting in his multi million dollar home drinking opus and saying he knows whats best for the bears.

I also believe they previously confirmed during those stupid presentations that the parking would be under the stadium? So essentially no tailgating unless you are lucky enough to have the one outdoor lot they are planning on building.

It would be a nightmare and insanely expensive to build underground parking with the water table sitting at 15 feet.

NVM think that was their plan for arlington then. I forget cause this clown has been sitting on his hands for 2 years now.

Shovels should have been in the ground in arlington like a half year ago, dude is a fucking clown. We wont start building this till 2026 at the earliest and it will probably end up being arlington cause the city wont approve his dumbass plan.

Here is what it says:

What will happen to fan tailgating areas during construction?
We will have a parking transition plan during each phase of the construction process, preserving some areas for tailgating.

Their plan is to build on current lots I think, so there is going to be almost no actual tailgate opportunities if so. None of the renders show any real parking, stupid AF.

why are people so concerned with parking in downtown chicago?? like, imagine thinking there arent already parking garages all over the place. i know people are concerned about their tailgaiting, but it sounds like there will be a parking lot of some size available in the plans to accommodate such things.

Probably because they already know the answer which I gave to you in post 96 and you thanked it.

The plan also involves the easing of traffic circulation in the area via:
  • Improved ramps and interchanges at 18th Street.
  • A new parking deck built on an existing surface lot.
  • Improved access to DuSable Lake Shore Drive via a new overpass, relocation of a Lake Shore Drive exit and new ramps to the campus.
  • A new lower level for McFetridge Drive.
The changes are expected to result in a 50% increase in campus capacity for events, a 10- to 20-minute reduction in event exit times, and 1,200 vehicle hours of congestion removed on an average day at the intersection of DuSable Lake Shore Drive and McFetridge Drive.
The infrastructure plan for the project is split into three phases. Phase 1 consists of requirements to open the stadium including transportation, roadways and utilities, and would cost an estimated $325 million. Phase 2 would maximize the stadium and surrounding campus, cost $510 million and include a bus depot expansion, new parks and playfields. Phase 3 would further enhance the campus, cost $665 million and consist of additional transportation improvements, retail and public attractions.

Warren also mentioned underground parking during one of his interviews. The bulk of the public money is to be spent on improving the traffic and parking situation in that area.

I love how people think the Bears are sitting on billions of dollars to build a complex in Arlington.

They will have something like a 2-3 billion dollar tax bill when Virginia dies. I doubt they have the money to build Arlington which is why Warren likely killed that idea when he arrived.

Imagine bashing Sweaty Ted for decades yet thinking his Arlington idea was the best.

So lets think about this. A dude that most thought was grossly incompetent and had never built a stadium wanted Arlington.

Guy who has already successfully built a stadium pivots away from Arlington.

Wonder who is likely to be right in this scenario.

I thought the Bears laid out their plans last week like it was a done deal? So the team announced a new stadium but never had approval from the state?
Why don’t they just build the stadium in Arlington? Damn this organization is crazy.

lol at you thinking they dont have the money to build in arlington by themselves.

Investors will be lining up to get a taste of the profits of the hotel, casino, and retail at arlington

Stick to reading pff numbers bud

The mccaskeys are just cheap AF, and the family likely sells not too long after ginny's passing. Warren is feeding them the idea they wont have to pony up as much cash staying in chicago and that makes their cheap asses happy.

Because warren is trying to get the city of chicago to use their taxes to pay for a nice chunk of his new stadium.

He will tell you its all about the lakefront, but thats really all it is.

To this day I'm still amazed that when Ritchie Daley wanted a pet project for his wife the entire civic process for removing Meigs Field consisted of him ordering bulldozers out to tear up the runways (while planes were still parked there).
