Probably still has quite a bit left in the tank, a bit more than Just A Guy. But the comp of the recent signings since Ginny passed seems out of control. But perhaps now's the time for the Honey Bears to return.

25 year old studs in their primes are not readily available in free agency. 31 and 30 were not always considered old, and you have to look at recent play and durability. We had young guys like Jenkins who would get injured farting, youth does not necessarily equate to durability. Thuney has been a rock his whole career and Jarrett as well except for one year with the ACL. Hell, he played every game last year. They are not long term deals.

I would consider these guys more at the end of their prime, not past it.

Here's hoping they all work out and at the very least, they teach the youngins.

All of these signings could work out positively and they all fill needs, but it does kind of remind me of the last years of the Jerry Angelo regime, where you bring in a bunch of veterans then halfway through the year you are wondering why everyone is injured.

Two of the five moves were old. So does two equal “a bunch”? This team desperately needed some leadership last year. Hopefully these two add some. But I really don’t get the angst over two okd guys. Both with a long track of staying healthy too

Lions just picked up a sponsorship from Dr. James Andrews office of ACL repairs.
wut?

Serious question, when the Bears signed Jackson, did that include the bench he was sitting on at the end of the season?

Asking for a friend.

Here are some good things about Grady Jarrett based on available information:
  1. Elite Performance on the Field: Grady Jarrett has established himself as one of the NFL’s top defensive tackles. Over 10 seasons with the Falcons (as of 2024), he’s racked up 34 sacks, 88 tackles for loss, and 457 combined tackles. His standout moment came in Super Bowl LI, where he tied a Super Bowl record with 3 sacks against Tom Brady, showcasing his ability to dominate even on the biggest stage.
  2. Durability and Consistency: Jarrett has been a workhorse, playing in 152 games and missing only a handful due to injury until a torn ACL sidelined him for part of 2023. His 2024 season saw him back in full force, playing all 17 games with 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks, proving his resilience and reliability.
  3. Leadership and Team Spirit: Known as a locker room leader, Jarrett was a captain for the Falcons in 2024 and has been praised for setting a high standard. His former coach Dan Quinn called him a "culture-setter," noting how he demands excellence and impacts everyone around him, both on the team and in the community.
  4. Community Impact: A native of Conyers, Georgia, Jarrett uses his platform to give back to Atlanta. He’s heavily involved with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, designing cleats with patients for the NFL’s "My Cause, My Cleats" initiative. His Grady Gives foundation supports local youth, and he’s a two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee (2019, 2023), reflecting his off-field character.
  5. Underdog Success Story: Drafted in the fifth round (137th overall) in 2015 out of Clemson, Jarrett was considered undersized at 6’0” and 305 lbs. Yet, he defied expectations, earning two Pro Bowl nods (2019, 2020) and becoming a cornerstone of the Falcons’ defense. His journey from a late-round pick to a franchise great is inspiring.
  6. Versatility and Skill: Analysts laud his disruptive playstyle, comparing him to Aaron Donald (though less dynamic as a pass rusher). Jarrett excels against the run—leading the NFL in run stuffs in 2019—and brings relentless energy, with a career-high 7.5 sacks in 2019. His quickness and motor make him a nightmare for offensive lines.
  7. Personal Integrity and Family Values: Raised by a supportive family, Jarrett credits his mother Elisha and father Grady Sr. for his drive. Now a father himself, he’s spoken about how parenthood shifted his perspective, focusing on legacy and impacting the next generation, which fuels his grounded, humble demeanor.
  8. Fan and Franchise Love: Posts on X from March 10, 2025, highlight sentiment around his release from the Falcons, with fans and owner Arthur Blank calling him an "all-time franchise great" who "represented the city proudly." His decade-long tenure left a lasting mark, with many noting his sacrifices during lean years.
Grady Jarrett’s blend of on-field excellence, off-field generosity, and personal grit make him a standout figure in football and beyond. He’s a player who turned potential into a legacy, leaving Atlanta better than he found it. If you’d like more details or meant someone else, just let me know!

Very nice. I live in ATL, and yep, Grady is a big fan favorite here. He's not washed up, but is entering the twilight of his career. I believe he'll make the Bears better in lots of good ways, even if for 1 yr or 2. This makes me think Poles and Co are now most certainly going to go after a DT to learn from GJ while he's here.

I didn't say they were 'old', I said they were 'veterans'.
