Looks like an old man training for a marathon…

Imagine if his burst is gone…

It’s certainly possible.

The Lions play dirty and karma is a *****.
Yea I thought I heard he was supposed to be ready for the SB lol…. Looks like a set back.

How are you supposed to stay in any kind of shape with a leg-break that bad? Not only does he need to rebuild confidence in his leg he needs to get back to where he was conditioning-wise, which is that a world-class athlete.

He'll be fine by the time training camp comes around.

It means you barely have to see any Chris Williams or Byron Cowart going forward, and if they draft a DT on day 2 you probably dont have to see any more Zacch Pickens either. And that should make you feel pretty good.

They tenders Williams, $3.2m, so I think they are planning on using him at least somewhat.

Very nice. I live in ATL, and yep, Grady is a big fan favorite here. He's not washed up, but is entering the twilight of his career. I believe he'll make the Bears better in lots of good ways, even if for 1 yr or 2. This makes me think Poles and Co are now most certainly going to go after a DT to learn from GJ while he's here.
He’s an expensive rotational player that will be much better than he was recently in Atlanta because he won’t be double-teamed and will get less snaps. It’s an overpay but it is only a 2 year deal. Still need to draft a DT early because once useless Picckens gets cut, they need a 4th DT. Chris Williams was actually fine as the 5th DT(I’m not even sure he’s currently under contract). I also believe Billings is a FA after this year?

Williams was RFA and they tendered him, $3.2m for one year. He's basically making the same $ as Billings and both are UFA next year.

They still need to draft DT high imo.

The bottom line is the defensive line is improved; would like a JPJ, Walker or Green added in the draft in the 1st via trade down. Then target DT & OL in the 2nd and maybe even trade up for a RB with the pick acquired in the 1st trade down.

To me, they've stabilized both lines, but only Thuney is really a difference maker. They need to get another couple difference makers in the draft.

I don't think there's going to be much to demand to trade up to #10 in this draft. That would be nice though.

I might be mistaken here but I think they can rescind that. It’s only a right of first refusal and not a full contract

I think so, but usually if they don't plan to pay it they just don't offer the tender. I'm also not sure if it becomes guaranteed once he signs it, like a franchise tag. Probably not, because he probably would have signed it already.

I would like to see Poles use a 5th on WR Pat Bryant

He ran very slow at the combine, will probably be around in the 5th.

I think there will be some good WR prospects in the 3rd.

If Jarrett really an "overpay?" The contracts have gone up a lot with big increases in the cap the last couple years. He's a disruptor in the middle which we need pretty badly and brings some quality veteran leadership that we're lacking. Nice signing, IMO.

I think they are keeping him as depth in case of injury or blowouts and hope to give him 150-200 snaps if DT1-3 are healthy.

He's basically making what Zach Allen is making, Top 20 DL, probably top 12 3T.

At his age, on paper he is not that. But he does bring intangibles and is probably still a solid one gapping 3T.

As one of my ATL friends texted me yesterday, "thanks to your Bears for stealing away our entire Falcons defense the last few seasons". I think Jarrett could see some resurgence when surrounded with a more capable cast of players. I do think he's hitting a point where he has to have his snap count managed to keep him healthy and effective, but the size of a Jarrett and Billings should be a formidable force in the middle of the line.

Yeah, I saw where Jarrett was double teamed or chipped on 60% of his snaps. Probably get a lot more one on ones this year with more help around him.
