Was listening to Hoge and he mentioned the trade for DJ Moore and the 1st rounder is probably gonna end up as the best trade made by this franchise when it nets the 1st overall pick

It's a little early to say that but so far this was a case of grand theft by the Bears. DJ has been phenomenal so far this year and will probably end up with around 1300 yards. That's probably close to 40% of the production. Plus he makes the other receivers better.

this was in 2017 but they had Dick Butkus as the best trade for the Bears. They traded a 2nd and 4th rounder to the Steelers for their first and it ended up being the 3rd pick. Still think this one will probably top that one

Wright, Stevenson, and someone picked in 2025 second round are also part of that trade, along with Williams or whatever they get for #1 (hopefully) in 24. It's an insane haul.
This.

We have to add the haul we are going to get for this #1 as part of that trade. If we kneecap the giants or Raiders for Thebedioux or Crosby, there’s a chance the following year’s pick is high, too. This trade is the gift that keeps on giving.

I think the OP put that in the perspective of what else was gained along with the luck of where this years acquired picks reside and what compensation we get from those as well. Looks like it could become the highest value traded pick in the history of the league but if we don't make the correct QB decision, it may not matter.

Could become a Young meme.

"Most valuable QB of all time"... with what trading for him cost the team of Ray Carruth. Probably 5 1sts, a 2nd, DJ Moore and then some.
Or... Caleb/Drake, Wright, DJ, and a 2nd which is effectively 3 1sts (with a #1 pick) and a 2nd.

Could become the greatest (most valuable) trade in league history. Does Mahomes get you 6 1sts value?.. but Mahomes already cost KC an extra 1st and a 3rd? Do they get 7 1sts?

In my lifetime? It certainly has the chance to be the best trade. I am certainly as amped for DJ Moore as I had been for other big trades, and the ret of the players that the trade will net would be the deciding factor.

I, for one, feel like that trade negated the historically bad trade for Rick Mirer. Every brilliant trade that Poles makes will henceforth negate ugly trades made by Jerry Angelo (was Mirer a JA trade? Them GMs all run together right now)

I did not know that. That was a great trade, especially when you consider what Butkus was to the Bears even long after his departure from football.

It could end up as one of the best trades in NFL history.
IF all of those draft picks we got back from CAR pan out, then sure, I would put it up there with the Hershel Walker trade for the return. Give me four or five stars that help us compete for SBs, and it is one of the best.

Right now it is just stunningly awesome.

Yes, I mentioned it in another thread that he still needs to convert on the rest of his draft capital but so far it’s looking pretty good.

Yet some fans want to fire him. Tough job!

The fans that want him fired should check their credit score and see why "spending to your limit because you have the space" is a bad thing!

Tough job indeed.

This trade will go down as the best trade in Bears history but there were some horrible trades in NFL history. I had to look up the details but the best trade ever or worst ever depending which end of the trade you were on was between the Packers and the Rams back in the 70s. The Rams traded 34 years QB John Hadl to the Packers for the Packer 1st & 2nd round picks in the next draft and a 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the following years draft. Hadl played 1 year for the Packers.

Bears still have this years first and next years second to use. So the jury will be out for a long time for me.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that the Rick Mirer trade or Chase Claypool trade will go down as the greatest in Bears history by a mile!

That trade is diminished by the fact the Bears and Butkas never made the playoffs so in the end that trade did nothing for the franchise postseason wise.

In 1965 The Bears made a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire the third overall pick in the NFL draft, and then used it to select Dick Butkus. They then used their own selection (#4) to take Gayle Sayers.

I'd say that was a pretty good trade.
