I find their lack of success appalling. Not only did they not wage war on Whales they didnt never sink any whaling ships. Panzies

Crock of fucking shit if you ask me. I wish they'd sink the fucking ships.

Whaling in Japan might have begun as early as the 12th century.[sup][1][/sup] During the 20th century, Japan was heavily involved in commercial whaling until the International Whaling Commission (IWC) moratorium on commercial whaling went into effect in 1986. Japan continued to hunt whales using the scientific research provision in the agreement, and Japanese whaling is currently conducted by the Institute of Cetacean Research. The meat from these scientific whale hunts is then sold in shops and restaurants.[sup][2][/sup] This is allowed under IWC rules, although most IWC members oppose it.[sup][3][/sup]

These hunts are a source of conflict between pro- and anti-whaling countries and organizations. Nations, scientists and environmental organizations opposed to whaling consider the Japanese research program to be unnecessary at best and a thinly disguised commercial whaling operation at worst.[sup][4][/sup][sup][5][/sup][sup][6][/sup][sup][7][/sup]

Japan maintains that annual whaling is sustainable and necessary for scientific study and management of whale stocks. Japan also argues that objections to whaling are based upon cultural differences and emotional anthropomorphism.[sup][8][/sup][sup][9][/sup]

I never said I agreed with whaling, but a whale isn't a person I am sorry, I am for my own species first, I don't think these people have anymore right to go all vigilante than what members of the militant wings of PETA feel I deserve a bullet in my head because I like to eat animals.

Maybe they should petition government to be more hardline on Japan instead of going out doing dumb shit, somebody is gonna get killed, they are a danger to themselves as well.

Im with RK on this one. **** it. We are at the point where we all know and are educated enough to know that hunting whales is WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! That "research" excuse is full bullshit. "Research" on mammals like whales take place in conservation facilities like the Vancouver aquarium etc. This is all about economics and the market place. Sometimes you have to take radical measures to send a message and make a point against those who cover their crimes up with propoganda and lies. At least the conservatists are honest about their agenda and don't cover it up with some bullshit. The way I see it these are last resort tactics. STOP SLAUGHTERING FUCKING WHALES!!!

We have the same problems up here when it comes to aboriginal rights and their cultural rights to hunt a certain number of whales. Slightly different because I believe that the aboriginal community for the most part actually do respect the whale population (some certainly do not though its not all black and white). Most aboriginals up here are involved in whale protection programs as they see the Whales (mostly orcas) as sacred not only to their own being but the balance of all things. Of course some use that as propoganda also and use it as something to lean on to slaughter whales. Things have become better but a shit load of work is left to do to find the proper balance.

Its a matter of numbers in my opinion. The aboriginal communities aren't taking tankers and huge boats out to slaughter whales in huge numbers. The majority of aboriginal groups take what they need and use the entire animal (thats what I ment by respect). Something we pompous urbanites pricks in the 1st world don't practice enough. We are a waste culture and we wrap up our waste in economic excuses. Im trying to not sound racist here but for the most part North America has learnt from their past historical mistakes when it comes to Whaling. Can't say the same thing about other countries..ie Japan.

When we start an international conservation on sharks I'll give a **** about whales. Also those whale war fucks, if they wanted to stop whaling use a couple torpedoes and put a few ships to the bottom, then you are sending the message until then you are just an annoyance

i have a major issue with Shark finning also. Its one of the most disgusting practices when it comes to hunting . Those involved should be criminalized. I don't know why one can't find both shark poaching (overhunting) and whale poaching (overhunting) as both disgusting practices. It all stems from the same basic attitudes.

Any ship that decides to ram/sink/attack another, deserves to be destroyed. You are putting others in danger, yourself in danger, not to mention if you do sink that ship, what kind of environmental damage will you do? Maybe not much, but still.

Don't take that as a "**** the whales" statement. Whales are amazing animals, and i think it would be a terrible if they were wiped out. Not only for our well being, but for the ecosystem as well.

Is it shitty that Japan kills the whales? **** yeah. To RK's post, is it reprehensible that they kill dolphins? In my mind, there are words to describe that.

And I agree with this as well. If those guys were serious, then yeah, torpedo them. Then you will see a Japanese destroyer (at least) escorting these whaling ships. Either way, a few ships will go down.
