Why do the Japanese hate dolphins so much?

All I can think of are the south park videos

Is it a cultural thing? Ancient ceremony? Do they like the meat? I don't get it. Did the dolphins at one time threaten their way of life? It's one thing to hunt them, but they seem to go out of their way to kill them for some reason, maybe a rite of passage type thing? I don't get it?

It's sad.

I'm actually amazed that someone hasn't started torpedoing whaling ships en masse yet.

But I don't really buy the whole "but they're just animals, and you're talking about killing PEOPLE!!!!!" Sometimes good animals die, sometimes good people die. Sometines bad animals die, sometimes bad people die. I think if it's okay to cull the herd of animals for food/keep their numbers managable for the sake of maintaing the balance of the ecosystem, the the same should apply to humans.

I agree but that's not what this is doing. And since it will never be done to Humans, who continue growing in population, eventually there won't be anything else to kill.

Hopefully it will start when we remove warning labels.

Believe me, I love animals as much as anyone who lives in Granolaheadland, but sometimes animals will get killed; there just needs to be a balance.

It's their slanted eyes, they think they are Tuna and kill them by mistake!
