From 1969 to 1975 Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones was the greatest guitarist alive. Here is his greatest performance. Solos at 3:08 and 5:25. Jagger can't beleive what he is hearing and has reactions after each solo. It's performances like this why Keith Richards was so jealous of Taylor and was glad when he quit the band

Blues guitarist have not been doing this for 100 years because 100 years ago it was all acoustic. People tend to think that the original version is always better and I don't beleive that. There are tons of cover songs that blow away the original. IMO, Taylor was the best and most important guitarist of the early 70s and this was his best performance. Again, my opinion. No offense to Mr. Taylor, but I've heard better. He's just mimicking what blues guitarists have been doing for over 100 years here in America.

OTOH we can all agree that Susan Tedeschi sucks
Anything post Colony is shit.
And blues is an offshoot of 19th century gospel and virtually every great artist after 1967 acknowledges the Beatles as their primary influence.........so what. It's always been popular to say that Blues influenced rock, but who cares. In every endeavor what came before influences what came after. And I submit that bands like the Rolling Stones, Zepplin, the Beatles and virtually every other British invasion rock band hit in big in the mainstream by covering blues, soul and RnB artist. Rock is just blues played at a faster tempo.

Van Halen, you really got me intro.
Ok, but so what. Some people in this thread act like the blues are better because it was first. I don't buy it. Better is better regardless of when it happenedyet the Beatles, and most of the other English groups were influenced by the blues..Without the blues, there would be no R&R. Most of the early rock songs were nothing more than 12 or 16 bar blues with a slightly different feel
