Floyd was a decent player when he played in Chicago. He just didn’t get the sack numbers we’ve been conditioned to believe are all that matters. I know they drafted him as a pass rusher so in a sense that was his job. It’s more nuanced than that though. Like has been mentioned 100 times as well, he played in coverage a lot.
Didn’t LA give him like 10 million a year? It’s not like he sucked in Chicago and got some minimum deal and resurrected his career. You don’t give scrubs 10 million a year.
That whole thing put Chicago in a tough place. They didn’t want to give him that 5th year option at such a steep price when he really didn’t deserve it. But at the same time he was a decent player. The system in place for first round contracts is what screwed the Beras there.
