Its good to see each side has respect for the other.. They are professionals. Not drunken morons.

But is the rivalry still alive? I haven't felt the rivalry since 2008.

Did the rivalry ever exist out side of Chicago to begin with. I live 3 hours away and have never argued with my Sox fan buddies, albeit I only have one.

Why would it be?

From a fan standpoint there's no doubt in my mind it's still alive. That's an obvious one.

From a player standpoint, it's been a few years since they've gotten involved (the pierzynski & barrett fiasco) but that doesn't mean there isn't a rivalry going on. Disrespect doesn't equate to rivalry either so I'm not sure why that was brought up.

And let's be honest for a second, 08 was the last time both teams made it to the postseason at the same time. Some people only consider the South Side vs. North Side battle a real rivalry when both teams are good, and that isn't the case this season. When the White Sox are doing what they do and the Cubs are struggling the games won't mean as much because one side can't say their team is better. When the teams are evenly matched is when things get interesting.

TL;DR: No, the rivalry is still alive.

For me anyway, the only real rivalry now is St. Louis, and to an extent Milwaukee. Cincinnati and the Cubs haven't really developed a rivalry yet, well Cincinnati thinks we have some big rivalry with them, but we never really have.

Ive always thought the Cards as our main rivals..

The Sox rivalry is something thats around for 6 days of the regular season and its over..

Ya, to me it is the same as Cubs-Rangers. It's my favorite team against another team I like to watch from time to time in both cases, which may actually be why I don't see the rivalry anymore.

I care 10 times more about the Twins than I do the Cubs and I'm sure most legitimate fans feel the same way. However the rivalry will stay alive and well fueled by the meatballs and frat boys that don't care about the other 156 games a year.

No, it's just the same as a Cubs-Sox game to me, it is just another game to me.

it's not like the sox-yankees craziness but dang it isn't just another game.....it's still a rivalry for the city of chicago..heck this board emulates the division of chicago between sox and cubs..yes i would like to see the cubs and the sox be at the height of their game when they play...but you know what....whatever the records of both teams it's bragging rights and a damn feud.....

Not dead to me...I love the rivalry! I've never been to a Cubs-Sox game but hopefully someday.
