Just their business model. Not a big deal, but they take a 5% fee on all donations, but charge another 2.5% fee for the credit card transaction. ON top of the 4.5% event registration fee. It's not a big deal per transaction I guess. But I wanted to donate $150.00 and they are charging me 12 bucks to do it. So I unfortunately is still donating the $150.00, but I"m taking the fee out of the donation instead so it's only like 139.79... Overall though, on 30k worth of donations depending on how people pay that could be a couple grand lost to fees. I know the site is great and easy to use, but I would think for that same 2k someone could build a site just as awesome that wouldn't cost so much in fees if anything by using pay pal or something?

Where did you get charged an event registration fee?

That's what it said on the home page. I don't know if you got charged it, but that's what it says. I didn't get charged the event registration fee.

I don't mean for this to be complaining and sound like a dick, I will gladly pay it because it's for a good cause, I just feel bad because they are taking 7.5% of the donations through fees and CC transaction fees, and I feel like if I'm donating I want it all to go to the cause.

Sorry, I didn't want to be alarmist, I wasn't charged the 4.5% event registration fee, just the 7.5% normal fees. The event registration fee is something I saw on their homepage and assume that Bob had to pay when he registered. All I'm saying is that I trust Bob to the point where I'd much rather take my donation and use it in the auction, or put it in a donation box to avoid the fees and make sure it's 100% going toward the cause. I'm just going to shut up now and pay the fees. Hopefully other will too because we all want to see Jako in his jockstrap.

Got it all straightened out. That fee is charged to you only if I charge you to enter an event.

While the 7.5% is normal and accepted, I am looking into other alternatives for the future.

BTW, I cannot edit through Chrome

Serious question.

how many would use pay pal vs a commercial site.

firstgiving allows the players to set up individual pages and has the nice bells and whistles, but....

it costs $500 annually and 7.5% on CC donations.

paypal would be free and cost 2.2% and .30 per transaction. That works out to about a 4% savings. It is significant enough to investigate.

Paypal is fine.

When do we find out what team we are on? Was it random selection or skill/experience based?

I'm just curious, I don't really care either way.

I prefer anything that gets the most amount of my donation to the cause, but at the same time, if it's more work than what it's worth for you, then I'll happily pay whatever makes the most sense to keep the event the most successful.

So since I don't know many of the names on the rosters other than what I can associate with the board and such... where did all these folks come from? You bringing them form KC, local rockford guys? Any surprise players? Minor celebs and such?
