Edmonton has an awful lot of young forward talent, and our system is stocked with d-men....I would trade him now for some young talent, then look to resign him in the summer if we can

Re-signing him makes it OK. But can we even afford to re-sign him? Damn salary cap.

the hawks would be insane if they did not explore a trade. I am tired of the hype that the keith/seabrook pairing get all the time. He is going to get paid alot, so no, dont resign him, trade him while you can get a return. we need forwards dammit.

I would absolutely look to get back some forward talent from Edmonton whether we resign him or not

Ya, I just don't want them throwing in the towel on this season just yet.

Ya, if he's a FA after the season (right?), why would Edmonton even want him?

No, Soupy has 4 years left on it.

7.1 mil for a guy putting up nothing on offense.

I saw that they were working on an extension as of January 24 though.

I have a tough time putting any stock in this. This doesn't make sense unless the organization really believes Hammer is ready to step up and pair with Keith. Maybe this was cooked up because of his dumbass running of the mouth yesterday to put a stupid fright in him (or the rest of the team for that matter). I mean, he's a young, physical top pairing D-man who already has chemistry with one of the best PMD in the league. This shouldn't be taken lightly. Are we getting back a physical D prospect closer to the NHL than Olsen to step into a vacant top 4 role...because flipping him adds a hole to our D-corps even next year. Sure they have some nice looking young forwards, but we'll need to acquire a top 4 in his absence next year.

He's restricted and Edmonton has a lot of space available next year with a lot of players already signed - seems very improbable to be able to re-attain via offersheet.

Sure, call me a homer, but if this is the Stan's stance that we're going to flip Seabs then we might as well flip Hossa, too. Then we could completely rebuild around Toews, Kane, Keith.

Sorry if I'm all over the place - i am so sick right now. :(

Edit: Fuckit, trade Sharp too...if you thought his value was high last offseason, it's gotta be skyhigh this season.

It was already shot down in one of the links that were posted here, there was nothing to it.

here is my response sickboy

Assets:
Kane
Toews
Hossa
Keith
Sharp

Leave those 5 alone, and build around them.

with bonuses coming off the books, and if they do not re sign seabrook, and can find a suitor for campbell we can build a pretty damn good team.
