My point is pretty clear. They are roughly 4 million dollars under the cap and that is unacceptable. I am fully aware of Huet and Olesz being on the payroll but that is their own fault. Maybe they should have been more concerned with making good hockey decisions rather than making a splash in signing Huet and Campbell. Nonetheless, they should have kept Campbell if they weren't going to put the money back into this team.

I know that Rocky is spending but this is a major market. Act like it.

Ok, the bold is where I agree with you. At the same time, Rocky isn't the one making those decisions and I have supported a critical look at the suits making those decisions. I do, however, think they are acting like a major market by taking said hits in the wallet in attempt to put out a paper contender. How many other teams comparable dough buried - the Rags?

Ok

But this point has nothing to do with ticket prices.

It has everything to do with my opinion of their ticket prices. When I decide if I'm going to pay for tickets, which I would classify as expensive if they raise the 20% I have heard, I consider the team's financial committment to winning and I feel as if they have not done everything they could to win this year. Sounds like you feel differently and are content with their payroll. I am not.

So you would be happier if they were keeping those players on the roster so the Blackhawks were at the cap?

If I knew the Hawks were not going to spend the 4 mil they saved from the Campbell trade, I would have preferred they didn't make the trade.

And if the Blackhawks spend the $4M on a player like Huet, a flop, then it's bad paper.

If they could have gotten a 2nd line center or a d man without giving up their core pieces, they probably would have.

Like HW said, there are people willing to pay for these tickets now, and they'll pay for the increases. It's not a matter of the Blackhawks trying to weed out fans, they are a business too.

Like I said before, I don't blame the Hawks for increasing their ticket prices. It is completely understandable given the current demand for tickets. I just won't be one of the people paying to see them play.

but in the end...as bad as it may sound, they dont care if you wont be one of them, because they will have people fighting over your ticket anyway

I think we all agree that a huge demand exists for Hawk tickets. Naturally, one person not buying tickets will have no impact on anything the Hawks do.

nah, I don't care about the payroll

payroll doesn't fix a bad powerplay and uneven goaltending

McDonough on increase in season tickets: "I wouldn't really call it a major hit"

As of right now, we're not renewing due to the price increase. **** you McDouche.

McDouche thinks people are made of money.

We're both pretty bummed that Sunday night could be our last Hawks game in person for quite awhile.

In business, it will happen. Supply and demand. A lot of the times the demand spikes, prices inflate and it ends up putting a company in BK. I see it every single day I work. Now with a franchise such as a sports team, it wont fold in the way you would see a corporation, you would see cutting cost and trimming fat. If it were to happen that the tides turn, which happens all the time in pro sports, you would see for a little while atleast, a mediocre product, money not spent as much for marketing and so on. Raising ticket prices can be a disaster for a franchise in sports unless you are the yankees.

Ive been to a handful of games this year, not that I cant afford it, Im not happy with the product on the ice so why pay mortons steak money for lone star quality. Id rather take that money and invest it to make more money. thats just me though.

dont be sad about it, you will be back there again. your dad is doing the right thing, if money is tight you start to cut leisure spending.

McDonough links the increase to upgrading the roster.

Morrison, Brunette, O'Donnell, Lepisto are upgrades?

Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, Keith and Seabrook are better than most if not all cores in Blackhawk history.
