Yeah I don't know if that has to do with staying above the cap minimum or what. That's the only thing I can think of, was that he had to do that to help with that problem. Otherwise it's just dumb.

Is he a pugilist or agitator? He went directly to the ECHL and his stats are underwhelming.

I always wonder how a guy like this is even on the radar close enough to anywhere to be considered for a throw in. was it just to get him out of the way of other prospects in their system maybe?

10 games in Rockford

and since when did SEL not count as professional hockey? Because he's played 121 games over there.

when I saw the rookie tournament in London this year, Svedberg and Olsen were the only standouts to me. I was actually shocked at the soft hands Svedberg had too.

Plus he's 6'8.

Remember that Chara was just a "throw in" in the Yashin trade to Ottawa?

Also. A lot of scouts have Steven Johns passing Olsen on the depth chart too.

I would consider the SEL a level below AHL.

Regardless, we added a 3rd line winger who can play PP and PK for two guys who won't be playing in the NHL with us.

2nd most talented players are typically in the AHL. Not much of a step, but nonetheless I think the AHL is higher skilled.

Completely different style of hockey eh? I think there are many AHLers that would struggle in the SEL? Hard to compare them I suppose. Although the AHL is probably far more similar to the NHL though.

Doubt it he could have already had him, twice on waivers, not to mention how many times he's already been offered...

For all intensive purposes, while playing in European pros are not something to scoff at, as you said, AHL is more closer to the show style of play.

He was a raw prospect when we drafted him hence why he was supposed to play 4 years of NCAA. He wasn't getting any better at Minnesota so we brought him in.

FYI he played for Duluth, not the Gophers.

The guy who's played all of 8 games professionally and lacks decent mobility? I'm sure he's got great potential, but to be considered a higher spot on the depth chart doesn't seen logical.

I saw Svedberg at training camp and expected him to me really slow when I saw his height but was pleasantly surprised. He is not a Bobby Orr, but he is not John Scott either. He, unlike many of our bigger players lately, seemed to know how to use his size too.

Euro pros is a joke to be perfectly honest. I know several people that played pro hockey in the high level euro leagues that couldn't even scratch the roster of a Junior A or D1 team here in North America. They now play in the same men's leagues that I play in, and are absolutely nothing special.

Are those players talented? Yes. Is it anything close to North American pro hockey? No. Not by a long shot.
