Yeah... That's the only point I was saying, sure they are technically untouchable becuase there are no plans to trade them or shop them in anyway, but if they said hey we will give you Stamkos... welll...

Svedberg... You didn't see him because he was injured.

The guy who's played all of 8 games professionally and lacks decent mobility? I'm sure he's got great potential, but to be considered a higher spot on the depth chart doesn't seen logical.

I suppose to listen to Dents comments on him if you haven't.

And how many times have you seen him play? You have an opinion of lacking mobility and have never seen him in a game?

Must have meant something they had the best record in the league, lost him and then went on to lose the next four consecutive games.

I think Ted Dents comments were something like.... "I did not know the impact his being out of the line up would cause, but it did"...

Olsen regressed, again ask any of the Hawks guys who do this for a living. Thats what they will say.

Who surpassed him outside of Clendening? Dahlbeck? I didn't see that in Rockford. Olsen looked NHL ready, we just have a log jam for him not to be in.

I have to disagree. I believe he was getting time at the big club because they needed to fill a roster spot due to injuries.

He'll get his ice time, but it won't be by wearing the Indian Head.

The telling sign would be only playing one game against the Coyotes in the 2012 playoffs. He had under 5 minutes of ice time in that game.

That's just based on what others have said that I've read. I'll hold off on my judgement then, but I don't think Olsen has really regressed. He was a raw prospect when we drafted him hence why he was supposed to play 4 years of NCAA. He wasn't getting any better at Minnesota so we brought him in.

I thought his speed, shot and positioning was better than it had been since he last played for the Hawks.

You could be right we all know that's the hardest position in hockey to grasp and continue to grow. But he wasn't cracking the top four with the Hawks anytime soon and Clendending is clearly ahead of him if no others are/were.

I don't see Olsen enough but trust the guys that have built two Cup teams in four years to make those decisions. I did not like Olsen the other night for sure. He took at least 10 shots and hit the net twice. He was behind the play on two of Iowa's goals and lazy on the way back.

No, he wasn't going to make the Hawks this year.

My point has been I believe he's better than what people think. The trade is great, just shocked at some of the comments about us fleecing FLA.

finally Stan improved this team by using some of the assets that are NOT going to want to be here much longer. Morin is next. He's definitely not staying with the Hawks if they don't find him a spot. He'd fit on 20 other NHL teams right now.

I don't think we fleeced anyone, other than after you factor in they are paying half his salary for the next three years. Then, yea...

It's basically a win/win for both parties involved, but I think Chicago wins the deal due to Florida eating a significant chunk of Versteeg's cap hit. Both teams get players that will immediately impact both lineups.

Olsen could be that D-man, but his impact may be felt 3-5 years down the line.

I think Hayes will be played like Skille was, and will be out the door quicker.

The mere mention of his name makes me snicker.

Great waste of a draft pick, but a better punchline!

Honestly, I too thought that since they were getting him at half price it was a bigger win from Chicago, but when I heard they were getting him for half price this year and two more... I thought it was a huge win if for no other reason than his talent at that price locked in for 3 years. Him and Seabs will be the only UFAs on the current roster for 16-17... the distribution of contract years looks pretty good, you have Kane and Toews, then Seabs and Steeg, then sharp and bickell... that will help resigning and cap control to not have everyone all at the same time.

10 games in Rockford

and since when did SEL not count as professional hockey? Because he's played 121 games over there.

when I saw the rookie tournament in London this year, Svedberg and Olsen were the only standouts to me. I was actually shocked at the soft hands Svedberg had too.

Plus he's 6'8.

Remember that Chara was just a "throw in" in the Yashin trade to Ottawa?

Also. A lot of scouts have Steven Johns passing Olsen on the depth chart too.

I think it's more because the Hawks didn't lose anything of any consequence and got back a known commodity and added even more forward depth. They lost 2 guys who would've never had a real chance of playing here at basically any time, and they got back a player that they know and would've liked to have kept in the first place.

Even if Versteeg is only here for this season or he doesn't work out or whatever, he's easily tradable with a 2.2m cap hit and can bring back a draft pick or two. Which is what I'm surprised that's what Tallon didn't get, which was a draft pick in this trade.

The irony of this trade is awesome. After 2010 we had to give Steeg away for some bum ass player Stalberg with a couple other throw in pieces, all because we could not afford to keep him.

Here we are 3 years down the line, Stalberg is dunzo, and Steeg is locked up for 3 seasons at almost half of what his 2010 contract from us would have been.

Not to mention how salty everybody was about the management situation. Why Tallon would pick up the 2.2 on Steeg and give up another prospect does not make any sense to me. If I am one of the 17 Florida fans, I would more or less want Tallon gone after this past year. I understand this is a rebuilding move, but they were rebuilding two years ago down there!!!

Barkov over S. Jones, signing Kopecky for a fortune, Skille, losing Weiss and Booth (even though hes been hurt since) who were solid players if you could get a star down there. I just don't really know what Dale is thinking down the past two years, there roster looks like the Sarnia Sting right now with a 40 year nutjob in net.

The fleecing comes from the fact that Florida is paying half his salary for the remainder....

Again, I have no idea what Dale is doing. I thought Barkov over Jones was idiotic. He just continues to baffle me with the moves he is making.

"I bet Florida wins a cup before the Hawks win another." :icon-lol:

The Hawks may win 2-3 before the Panthers even make the playoffs again.
