Brookbank on the wing was due to two things.

1) Hammer was playing with an injury and they may have needed the help on D if it got worse.

2) Q was making a point to Morin that he was more willing to play a Dman on wing than the crappy play away from the puck and lack of in zone responsibility Morin was providing.

Not sure where you get #2 from, as it was 100% related to Hjarlmarsson.

I'll put money down Olsen becomes a top 4 defenseman, maybe even top 2 within the next two years.

I'm not complaining about the trade, I get what we had to do, just really think people are undervaluing Olsen as he's the type of Dman the Hawks lack outside of Seabs and Rosy.

On the Panthers? Only an idiot would take that bet, they suck. Entire NHL, never know. Let me see where he is after the end of this season I may throw some money at that bet.

This was a great move and a steal this team just got even better and faster. To the people crying about OIsen and Hayes, we have so much talent that still needs to come up to Rockford. And this just goes to show and prove my point that Dale has no clue and was lucky in Chicago to get the draft picks he had. You can bash me all you want, but its looking like I am right, since he has had plenty of time in Florida, with tons of cash, but the only moves hes making are his players going back and forth. And they are still the laughing stock of the league.

Eh, personally I don't read anything into that in terms of it saying something about Olsen. The fact of the matter is that Q is enamored of Brookbank and that's all there is to it. So we know what that means.

The Hawks' 1-6 on the blueline are signed through the end of next season. Figure Johns gets the LeBlanc treatment the second his locker is cleaned out at Notre Dame. Olsen goes from being a guy who would never play here to one with a chance to get some significant burn in Florida.

The Hawks have a third line of Bickell, Shaw and Versteeg that only costs $8.2 million in Cap space in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Stan Bowman is a wizard.

...and Dale Tallon keeps boggling my mind with those trades.

I swear, that dude probably was never fired from the Blackhawks, or he's getting some cash on the side for taking all of the bloat (salary and otherwise) off of Chicago's collective hands.

Heck yeah. Those two will piss off a lot of the top two lines they play against.

2 questions

1) Does Rosy give Steeg #32 back?

2) Who's re-starting the "All we know is, he's called Versteeg" meme?

Unbelievable.

Yesterday was texting with a friend about shoring up our D, with part of that coming by improving the PK. Said, "Man I want Steeg back, his value has decreased by a good margin this past year, but he is still a great player"

I was thinking like it was a pipe dream, but then after the game..boom Versteeg is a Hawk again. What is Brandon Bochenski doing right now?

And Olsen will be an everyday D-man. Seems to have all of the tools and sense, and really was tested last year by getting snubbed off the big club. Long story short, all of our top d-men are locked up, young, champions, and even in the case a prospect breaks into the big club, he'd be getting 13-14 minutes a night. I firmly believe Leddy would be getting 21-23 minutes every night on most other teams. Although it is a good thing, very talented and valuable players are just suffocated by our current roster.

Olsen has a chance to be a top pairing in Florida and relied upon, it'll be a huge wake up call, but the best thing for his career as a NHL player.

If they would've just drafted Seth Jones they'd have a building block. Still have no idea why any team passed him up.
