Seriously. They both have size, skill, stupid accents, excellent penile girth...but no, better off wasting roster/cap space on Shaw, Nordstrum, Steeg, Carcillo, Desjardins...

Brilliant work guys...signing the world's tiniest Russian makes up for it though...

This post/thread fails to look at the reality of things.

The Blackhawks did NOT let Kevin Hayes walk. In fact, they offered him an almost exact deal that the Rangers did. Q said he was their most complete prospect and he was promised to make the team out of camp. Blackhawks are pissed at the draft compensation that they get because they know it is going to take another 2 - 4 years to get that prospect ready for the NHL...IF he even gets ready. Hayes was ready and they spent time getting him ready. K. Hayes decided to walk because he was focused on his future (sort of can't blame him here). He saw a logjam at RW (where he wants to play and has played most of his life) and figured that he wouldn't get the time/points/etc to maximize his second contract.

Jimmy Hayes has a good shot that has helped him put up points in FL. He had size that he didn't use, he got bounced off the puck easily, and didn't play great defensive hockey. Ever look at the points that Frolik put up in FL because he got PP time and more TOI in general? I'm a huge fan of Frolik and his overall game, but when you play on teams that aren't Stanley Cup worthy...your points tend to inflate if you are a certain tier of player.

You can't blame these two on the Blackhawks regime and even attempting to is pointless.

Whatever. If they really wanted them they would be here. And theyd help the team have a more dominant physical identity. Q doesnt seem to care about that, at all. Maybe theyll be back though, when they are old as hell like Hossa.

Pretty much this. I remember reading a Hawk Writer post on the Tribune website shortly after the organization LET them walk stating that it was a good move etc...

Doesn't look so hot now, does it?

Jimmy Hayes is tearing it up in Florida (who looks poised to make some noise next year) and Kevin is 7 wins away from having his name on the Stanley Cup.

The team wanted Kevin Hayes. There is no doubt about that and they definitely didn't just let him "walk". Suppose they could have gotten rid of Hossa and/or Kane to make it happen. Surely, that would have been the way to go and would have been a great move resulting in more wins and allowing them to have a "more dominant physical identity"...

What I don't understand is K. Hayes' decision making process for not signing. I can understand not wanting to switch positions, but I don't get why he essentially refused to be a 3rd line player, because a 3rd liner on the Hawks is another scoring line with some checking ability. It's not like he would've been hurting for playing time or had to do dirty work. So instead he goes to an inferior organization with a worse long term outlook in NY, where he will most likely win far less than he would've in Chicago.

He's playing on the 2nd line in NY and flourishing. Also... is only 7 wins away from having his name on the Cup.

And other than ego, how is this a substantially better situation than playing 3rd line in CHI and being 8 wins away from having his name on the Cup?

LOL Ego? He did what is best for him. I'm sure you'd rather be playing in the NHL and collecting an NHL salary rather than being on an AHL farm team if that was you.

I never suggested playing AHL for the Hawks was better than playing NHL for the Rangers.

There is so much illogical foolishness with this post it's hilarious. Q has plenty of other fans who hate his lineup choices because he always has wanted a physical force added to the roster. That's why Carcillo, Bolig, Mayers, or any random Defenseman gets played a winger if nobody can fill that role for him usually appears.

Jimmy isn't here because of Q, that much is pretty much true. But that's also not fitting to your point. Watch Jimmy Hayes especially of 2012 tape on the Blackhawks, He's not a physical. That was the knock on him as a soft mentally playing big guy who never used his frame to generate much physical force or offense.

He also wasn't lighting it up, He struggled all of the last 3 months of the season hardly putting up points. He had a hot 2 months of December and January scoring goals, but Versteeg had a hot 2 months two. It's hard to say if Jimmy will still be anything significant in Florida. Many of guys had hot stretches for a bad team like that one in recent years and don't produce at a decent level again. It'd be nice for him if he gets it around but it's far from any certainty if you're objective about it. Kevin is a far better prospect and actually capable of using a great skillset on the ice, he's the bigger loss but it's not as if there was a immediate undesired aspect of having him. The rule puts the choice in his hands, he choose to go to a spot by his home with a more open roster. I don't believe the narrative he would be in the AHL this year if he joined the Hawks though, I don't think Richards would of been as considered to be signed, and think TT and Hayes would of been battling around camp for that role and Hayes could of been as an effective center early in the year by Kane than Richards was for them to keep him up.

Can't wait for the Panarin/Teuvo/Kane line. Fucking midget hockey at it's finest. It'll be epic to watch three guys get dominated on the boards concurrently by one decent sized Dman.

So, you haven't watched hockey in this millennium yet? Got it.

And any time those midgets get hit, it'll be considered a head shot

Those 5'6" dwarfs will rule the ice. Then afterwards, fans can come down and toss midgets from blue line to blue line
