I guess we'll see if a contender trades for him at the deadline
Yeah, I mean if he’s truly better than most contenders 3B, then the cubs should have no problem flipping him at the deadline. Yet, somehow I doubt he ends up traded to a contender and starting for them

I haven't given it much thought but looking back injuries have been a pretty big factor with this team this year. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise as it ultimately helps with the rebuild to suck vs being mediocre. However it leaves questions about what they ultimately have in Seya and some of the starting pitchers.

His average glove and occasional HR surely doesn't offset the fact he's on pace for 200 Ks and hits .219 with RISP. But hey, he gets a pat on the back from me for doing his bit to get the Cubs a top 5 pick in 2023.

He has one great tire. (Power)
One used tire (glove)
One solid tire (arm)
On tire missing. (Contact)
The spare was used 30K ago (SO Rate)

He is a 1-3 WAR player. That is about 16M peak value if a team didn't care about cash.

I personally see him as solid for the cash as the investment needs to be used for LH hitting.

Well if he was a 100 BB. 200+ SO with 30+ HR I could find some lov even with the flaws. I don't think he gets there with the walks

Back injury. Shitty season for him. Both Smyly and Stoman are starting rehabs so this should be a smooth transition.

Tue Thompson
Wed Steele
Thursday Hendricks
Fri Sampson (Should be bumped to the pen when Stro returns.)
Sat Mills IL case.
Sunday Thompson
Monday TBA Smyly will be on a rehab start. Steele's rotation date.
Tue TBA Hendrick's day
Wed TBA Sampson's day (Expect Smyly to land here next round)
Thurs @Dodgers and most likely day Sto returns

So That is how it should shake out til the deadline. Smyly is a trade candidate but we will see.

Ummm what?! We are looking at the numbers, I mentioned him being 3rd in all of baseball for errors by a thirdbasemman. You seem convinced he’s not mediocre as a fielder, so how about you provide numbers to back up your claim?!

Ok

4th in RngR
4th in ErrR
4th in UZR
5th in UZR150
13th in fWAR defense.

These show range and factors. Look at the names around him.

Not all errors are equal. Baez would have errors, he was still one of the best in the league. Wisdom is a good defensive third baseman with power. He is a MLB player on a lot of teams not just bad.

Again, we'll see where he ends up after the trade deadline. That'll tell a lot about how he's viewed around the league

That fwar defense is a negative number…correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s bad yeah?!

same for his outs above average and runs allowed average, both negative numbers. Not good. if anything, it goes to show fielding at 3B is pretty poor around the league outside of a handful of guys

he has a -0.5 defensive WAR this season, if you want to pretend he’s having a good year defensively, you can…but the numbers show otherwise

If thinking a negative defensive WAR is poor makes me “dumb on the numbers,” then sure

Still negative, hurting the team more than helping defensively.

like I said, just because the defense from 3B in the league is poor currently, doesn’t make wisdom an elite fielder

also, 13th you do realize is middle of the pack, yeah?

So, you ignored all of the range stats? Seems right
