Probably a better name than the current one, cheers.

listening to this, with the more ambient guitar influence i am trying to recall the name of a band that I used to listen to like 6 years or so ago. They are REALLY heavy ambient but completely instrumental, and it's primarily overdriven guitars and drums. Pretty sure they are Scandinavian. Any idea who I'm thinking of? They were pretty popular and I saw them at the Brew and View years ago...

Sigur Ros maybe? I don't know, that really could be a ton of bands.

Yeah Decathect is the album title. I hate the band name, tried to get the other guys to agree to changing it.

You are goddamned incorrect, kind of. It's fucking MOGWAI. and i saw them OPEN for Sigur Ros. This was not a quiz, I actually just fucking looked through my ticket stub album that my wife dug out of the closet because my brain's memory was making me angry.

It's not a bad name for a metal band imo, it's kind of gothy but your music isn't and your music is fucking good. what do you play?

I see you're still getting your fucking anger out that your brain's memory was causing you haha. That would have been a cool show to see, I saw Sigur Ros back in April I think it was. Not a big fan, but my girlfriend at the time was. Sigur Ros are Icelandic and Mogwai are Scottish by the way!

Yeah I don't think the name fits the music. I play guitar like everyone else on the planet does. I also did a little bit of backing vocals.

Mogwai are from Glasgow, 40 miles from where I grew up.

Yeah my memory fucked up because I thought Scandinavian because of Sigur Ros, and the s stuck in there. Sleep deprivation is a *****.

Where in Scotland did u grow up? I had some great times there. Is it weird that Glasgow reminds me of Chicago?

I grew up in Edinburgh. American Navy dad stationed in the Holy Loch/Dunoon. Scottish mom. They divorced when I was little and she raised me over there. So I was into American sports and the Bears from the 80s. Moved to Illinois in 2000.

That's cool. Edinburgh gave my calves a workout the two days I was there. People we're cool as hell. It was 85 degrees and sunny though so maybe they we're a little happier than usual.
