Been doing homemade wings this past weekend.

No breading, just season the wings, put em in the deep fryer for 12-15 mins.

Sauce em with store-bought buffalo sauce.... Hooters or Franks.

Who else does wings at home, and how do you make em?

@HeHateMe sous vide or nah?

I did some recently...I placed em on a baking sheet, put em in the oven at 350, and kept hitting em with hot sauce every half hour or so...They came out great

How long did they take to cook?

Method 1 - Pretty much the same as you just described. Add some butter and garlic to the Franks.

Method 2 - Dry rub and smoke them.

Method 3 - Dry rub and grill over charcoal

Method 4 - This one is on the list, but I haven't done it yet. Want to try and make some Korean style wings. Seems like the trick to making them super crunchy is potato starch. I found this lady's recipe on YouTube that seems legit:

I'm trying to remember..I really didn't time them..I just kept watch every half hour or so as I hit em with hot sauce..If I had to guess, maybe an hour as I remember the hot sauce treatment twice

I saw some oven recipes saying 50-60 minutes.... seemed like a long time to make wings.

Deep fryer at 350 for 12-15 mins and mine are done.

Some things seem like you have endless added steps, but I swear, it's a nice upgrade to take the last step and convert your own buffalo sauce.
Franks hot sauce + melted butter. That's all it is. Real butter just makes things better.

You are a young man..I am an old geezer...lol.....Wings are bad enough for you without adding the deep frying..That's why I tried the oven as opposed to the deep frying....Might not help a whole lot, but every little bit does help at my age

I might try grilling wings next year when it warms up, but idk about smoking.

To fire up the smoker I think I'd have to be making wings for a gathering.

I aint gonna spend 20-30 mins getting my smoker going just for like a dozen wings for myself.

Grill is just propane so it is quick.

I saw a Triple D ep where they smoked the wings and then dropped em in the fryer just to get a nice crunch on the outside.

I might try that if I ever smoke em.

Fair enough, health wise I am more concerned about avoiding carbs/sugar than fats.

But I know as you get older, heart health is a bigger concern.

Definitely doing this then, I knew it wasn't a complicated sauce.

Yep, the only time I smoke is to make a bunch. Last time I think I got close to 100 on my WSM. They are really good that way though.

@nvanprooyen any ideas on alternative to buffalo/spicy wings.

Love em, but sometimes the heartburn/acid reflux starts up.

Garlic Parm seems to be a big one out there.... kinda just toss em in butter/garlic/parsley/Parmesan

My dad has been making his in an air fryer lately. He said they come out really good that way. I have yet to try them though.

Yep. I've got a few sauces. Will share them here later. Need to run for a bit...

I am tempted to get one..I hear good things..I was shocked at how much fat and grease came out of them on the sheet

Sous vide of course.

It gets the wings completely cooked, in seasoning, then u can fry them on high and they are done in maybe 2 to 3 minutes. I call those my " famous two minute wings"

Make my own buffalo sauce tho because easy.

My fave technique however is dry rubbed and smoked for an hour or two, then flash fry to crisp in peanut oil, then tossed in sauce or more dry rub. I call these my "famous 2hour2min" wings.
