When it came to horror franchises, I was more of a Nightmare on Elm Street guy. Freddy Krueger had style. Jason and Michael Myers were brutes.
I spent a lot of time as a teenager with my friends watching horror movies (and others) at the old Evergreen Theater in Evergreen Park. It was within walking distance, I knew a girl who worked there who'd hook us up with free tickets, and they let underage kids into R-rated movies. That's probably why it limped along as long as it did.
