yes he is. the contract will soon look awful.

I don't believe he has any type of NMC, so I truly believe he'd be easily moved to a poor team that would gladly take the high caphit at a low salary, especially at 2017...no matter how the NHL may propose salary cap changes. If the changes NHL are thinking of proposing comes to fruition, his caphit would rise over $2.5 million.

I think he does play through pain as he has in the past, and actually, I think he has currently been playing hurt. I simply don't think there's evidence to question his heart, as you are implying.

I think that has to be right; I can't see where colliding with someone on the ice causes a "lower body injury" -not all on its own. It seems to suggest some sort of muscular thing -probably has had some sort of groin pull issue -which would be a ***** to skate with.

I know Secord back in 83-84 had some sort of nagging abdominal strain/tear that kept him out nearly the entire season (he had had a 54 goal season the year before).

hahaha. What an asshat. Damn him for wanting to be enshrined on the most famed trophy in all sports. Oh my Christ this is amusing.

Dare I ask - what team has he "bailed" on?

Well, there is the fact that he likes to bail on his team and go where he has the best chance to win.

i hope you arent talking about hossa.

and what player wouldnt want to go to a place where they have the best chance to win.....maybe he should have signed with the islanders

I think 35 is confusing Hossa with Heatley. Ex-Sens studs, both names start with H...but only 1 demanded a trade--a true bailout.

I'm talking about the guy that signed back to back 1 year deals with the two top contending teams in the NHL. Where's the loyalty in that?

Yup. Can't get much more wrong than that.

Go back and check his contract history.

Ok, so he was traded to the Pens in the last year of his contract, but he still turned down a long term contract with them, and also a long term with the Oilers, to take a 1 year deal with the Wings. That still doesn't show me loyalty.

Listen, I want to like the guy, but we are talking three long stints on the bench in less than one full season, from a guy that is injury prone. With a lot of their depth from a year ago gone, in order for the Hawks to be successful, they are going to need him, in a big way, down the stretch, I hope he doesn't let us down.

What team showed him loyalty? Wasn't that his first chance to be able to choose where he wanted to go? The guy wants to win; I can't fault him for that. He signed with the best team. As it turns out, he chose wrong. Damn that hindsight...always 20/20. He signed a short contract that earned him half a mil more from what the Pens were supposedly offering and he figured the Wings had the best shot to win (doesn't take a genius to figure that one out). What did he owe to the Oil (who never had him)? What did he owe to the Pens (who had him for like 2 months)?

Besides, have you not seen enough about his style of play to realize how much of a "me-first" type of guy he really isn't?

You won't find an argument from me in terms of needing him down the stretch, but 3 long injury stints--exaggerate much? He's been on IR once thus far as a Hawk...and that was because he was playing hurt trying to win a SCF series.

I will always be concerned about his performance in the playoffs (as long as he's a Hawk) as his numbers do take a hit as compared to his regular season numbers. However, in interpreting those numbers within a context that includes looking at his team's playoff success, one would have to understand that his numbers take a hit because of his team oriented effort (playing well at both ends).

The only way I can fault him for being selfish, again, is he wants to win. When you have the freedom to pick your destination and still make a pretty penny, you choose a winner, don't you? Wouldn't he be considered one of the stupidest men on the planet for doing otherwise?

1 year deal? hmmmmmmmmm

Why is that on Hossa? Ever think that the terms of the contract solely lies on the the constraints Detroit faced having to lock up big raises to Zetterberg and Franzen beyond the 08-09 season?

Edit: Didn't they have to loan Hudler to Europe to be cap-compliant last season? And that's without Hossa burning 4+ mil of their cap space...

I just love the Hossa bashing.

i do not understand why there is this hossa bashing. The guy has been excellent, and I am pretty sure that we do not win the Stanley Cup without him. It is really just a dumb arguement that I see no reason burning anymore calories typing.
