Became a junkie for MadMaze when I signed up for the Prodigy internet service many, many moons ago. Eventually got stuck in the game...so I searched for help and found a message board devoted to the game.

(They were still called "Bulletin Boards" rather than "Message Boards")

During the 1992 Election...Prodigy developed another online game called "The Next President". The game itself was pretty lame, but the bulletin boards were a riot. So many conversations swerved so far from the game that there was a Subforum type thing created for all OT talk that was billed as an "online bar".

They called it 'Wit's End' and posting there was probably my first experience with posting on the internet solely for social interaction in a message board type format.

When I was 11 or so, I saw my brother posting on an Anime forum and decided to join myself.

As far as these necks of the woods, I was looking at Google Images of Madden and one took me to Maddenlist (Rush's original site). Strange and scary how that one small decision has affected so much of my online life and offline one too. The shows I watch, the movies, the music I listen to, some of the points of views I have, and a lot of knowledge I've gained over the years has come from these forums.

Pre WWW I was on BBS (Bulletin board system) for pirated games and work stuff, then usenet, forums like GameFAQs were a natural progression.

I forgot about 4chan, that fucking place was and still is the wild west. Can you imagine mods trying to control that poop tsunami?

How did you discover them? What was the first one?

MaddenMania for me. Then went through a couple forums, created my own Madden one, etc. Eventually turned into creating my own Chicago Sports one.

Started looking for info on Madden 2001 or possibly earlier.

You spammed me on the CBMB.

But seriously, it was the Cubs forum back in 02.

My entire life, livelihood, people I've hired & their families, etc. have all been effected by the same little decision to find a forum almost 15 years ago. I wouldn't have my company and the crazy success I've had in the marketing world without knowing how to use Photoshop and making Sigs back in the day. That is the foundation of it all.

$99 for Stoltz's idiotic dribble? Wow he really played you for a sucker.

BearReport was probably the worst forum I ever posted on. I was banned a day after I joined just because they were having a problem with troll accounts when I signed up and they ASSumed I was one of them. At least the Chargers board there was cool until it shut down.

They were right about you being a troll account. Literally no one on the internet likes you. I bet your own parents don't even send you birthday cards.

I was setting up a saltwater fish tank in 2000 and stumbled across Reer Central. I was like the 700th member and now they have over 375k.

Everyone was super helpful and I learned a ton, so nothing like this place at all. When we moved to Hawaii I tore down my reef tank and stopped posting there a while after that.

Basically I learned back then that there is a forum for anything and everything you want to learn or talk about.

CBMB baby~ I hung out in the Rival's section fighting with G&G. I hope he didn't die...
Then I joined the site that Mod 1 made. I wonder where the guys who migrated there are now?
And then lurked here for like 4-5 years when that site tanked before joining last year.

One thing I really like about CCS is this bar section. I'm too old to be internet fighting anymore and this place is a lot more laid back than the football section. Had I known about the bar I would have joined a lot sooner.

Madden Mania, Sports Gamer, Madden Nation, VSN, CCS, NikeTalk.

Much like Rush, I started posting on forums looking for Madden, NBA Live, etc.

Could tell the CBMB was in desperate need of someone who knew football. They were a dumb people so I graced them with my presence and tried to teach them along the way. Then Rush saw I was by far the greatest poster there and kept begging me to come here so, being the nice guy I am, I decided to help him out.... after CBMB shut it down.

Started lurking on CBMB after the 2005 playoff loss to Steve Smith.

I was pissed off and looking for solace.

I found CBMB and began reading people's meltdowns and various rage/alcohol induced tirades.

I felt alot better, but continued to lurk for a long ass time.... probably 2006-2012 I mostly just lurked, posting every now and then.

Then came the shutdown and the migration to CCS and I intended to mostly just lurk, but you needed to post to view The Bar.

So I started posting and never stopped.

My first post on the CBMB was after the 2008 loss against Atlanta to vent about Lovie Smith being a ****ing idiot.

So next month will be my ten year anniversary of posting about the Bears under this handle.

Im not even sure. I'm older than this site since this site bought an older site I was a member of (bullspodcast I think it was called, CRYS would know).

I used to be on bulletin boards...must have been something like that.
